Am I the only one who thinks this?

Have you used it? People who have all came away very impressed.

I came away impressed with the 3D on 3DS when I tried it at E3 but doesn't mean the technology is good for every day gaming, I only play my 3ds with 3d off.

That the problem between a 5 min tech demo and a 2 hours gaming session using these technology there gimmicky.

Sadly with everyone different vision needs and the amount of Details needed for VR, I would think VR will be very similar to 3D techonology.

If you can't market it to the masses they wont support it. Could imagine how much development cost would skyrocket with VR.

VR will get destroyed by 4K -- which provides a the lifelike visual experience literally without the overhead.

VR is a more costly, unnecessary gimmick than the Kinect or Wii U Gamepad.

You seriously believe that? 4K is just a resolution upgrade. It will become standard in a few years with people not even talking about it. The Xbox fans are trying to convince us that even the difference between 720p and 1080p is neglectable, and they're actually somewhat correct.

It actually sounds to me like you have some serious aversion against VR that you're desperately trying to rationalize.

No, I just think it's silly.

Sounds like you've meanwhile even given up trying to find rational arguments for your aversion.

Its like 3d. Niche, a fad, and certainly not mass market potential.

Best case itll be like 4k TVs, which will truly catch on in the next 5+ years.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Hmmm, is anyone else starting to get the impression that it's mainly Xbox fans who seem to downplay the relevance of VR?

Like I have said in other threads regarding it, its gonna completely depend on support. It needs the games that utilize it well, that appeal to the mass market.

Even then though, to appeal to the mass market it needs to have that mass market price, which aint gonna happen on top of the steep cost of a console as things are right now. Its just too soon. When it comes, its gonna be a PS Move to the Dualshock 3. Its gonna be a "me too!" device that will be supported by a few first person titles with nothing unique to sell it.

Check the rest of the thread. I've heard a few rational arguments and acknowledged the ones I find are most compelling. There's enough to tickle my aversion, but not exactly change it.

Stop it with the accusations. We're all just speaking our mind and having some fun here :)

Why would they skyrocket? The assets are the same as they'd use for normal HD development. It only requires a few mechanics based updates from what I've seen, and the fact that some Indie devs have incorporated OR support does suggest it isn't a hugely expensive endeavour.

I think it looks pretty stylish. You people need to catch up with the times. Small things aren't cool anymore, take it from Samsung.

Yes, not at all.

VR needs some few adjustments that are fine in regular 3D games, but just feel bad in VR, like the camera being at stomach height for fps games. Apart from that developing a VR game is the same as developing a regular 3D game.
