That the problem between a 5 min tech demo and a 2 hours gaming session using these technology there gimmicky. 

Sadly with everyone different vision needs and the amount of Details needed for VR, I would think VR will be very similar to 3D techonology.

If you can't market it to the masses they wont support it. Could imagine how much development cost would skyrocket with VR.

Yes, not at all.

VR needs some few adjustments that are fine in regular 3D games, but just feel bad in VR, like the camera being at stomach height for fps games. Apart from that developing a VR game is the same as developing a regular 3D game.
