Forums - Gaming - Am I supposed to take VR seriously?

3D television, 3D Blu-ray, 3D streaming flopped.  [edited for clarity]The steroscopic 3D of 3DS isn't it's strongest selling point of the device.

... and now you're expecting people to put this on their heads?

That ^, is still just too eerily similar to this V

And I think if Sony does a VR headset like those ^^, it would be a tremendous failure commercially. It would cripple Sony's game development for a looong while if they take a gambit like this.

I just don't see how reducing the usabality of 3D technology makes any commercial sense whatsoever -- especially when prior 3D advancements still haven't caught on.

Am I the only one who thinks this?

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

The thing with this is, is that it enhances people's quest for the ultimate virtual sex experience so even though it may not do that well as a gaming device, it will defiantly do well as a "pleasure" device

I mean, sure, running and gunning in cod and etc gives people a headache and what not but laying on ur bed while having a virtual girl sucking you off is another experience entirely!

I've always dreamt of VR, I'm a big support of the OR so i'm all for it. Kinect and motion controls are in the past, it's time to move on to the next level and embrace the future.

I got a 3d TV, love it.
I am open to this, I hear good experiences with it. Im not going to be walking around outside with them so wtf do I care about what they look like?

It could become a hot ticket item if the porn industry gets behind it. Screw video games, lol.

In that sense it's to its advantage that Occulus is a PC-centric/open platform company by nature and this is not something being kept under lock and key by Nintendo or Sony or MS ... because that would limit it to just game applications that adhere to the console maker's strict definition of it.

well sony's VR set and the OR are already a million times better than the virtual boy for the simple fact that games won't look like:

..but a million times better than massive failure is still probably a flop so i pretty much agree with your general assestment at this point.  i still kind of want to try one though.

Kinect or other motion controls + VR would be pretty much a “perfect“ combination, no clue why one should replace the other. Not saying that games should all use motion controls with it but motion control games could profit a lot from a VR headset
@topic If they can get enough people to test it out and if they have enough good stuff to show them it could be a success. Most who say that they don't like it or who compare it with 3D TVs never tried out Oculus. Most who tried it out think totally different about it and were in love with even the first bad version without many games for it.

No. I 100% agree.

Its fairly ridiculous and expensive.

Not to mention nauseating, niche and nerdy

Painfully honest and truthfull. thumbs up

Bluray and streaming flopped? What?

But yes VR is a joke.

First question.

Have you tried any of the recent VR experiences yet?
