Forums - Gaming - Kitase on FFVII Remake:"You must believe me when I say it would take a lot to happen"

If they want to remake FF 7 it's defenatelly a lot of work and I don't even know if it would sell as well.
They do not only have to update the graphics but change dialogues and probably other stuff that wouldn't fit to a today's game.
Here is how I think of it:
There are some jokes that when you read them they are great but when somebody tells you that joke it's mehhh.
And there are jokes that when you read them are mehh but when somebody tells it they are awesome.
The ones are ment to be red and the others to be told.
I feel it's the same with the dialogues of these old games.
If they just put actors and kept the same lines it would prob sound a bit stupid.
That's how I feel and I think that there are generally a lot of things that would need to change for the remake to be just as good.Stories have evolved, gameplay has evolved, gamers have evolved..... not only graphics.

Make something new that's as interesting as FF7 in combat and upgrades. I really prefer that to what has become of FF13.

They had no trouble assigning 300 people, as well as out-sourcing, to fix their MMO. This sounds like deflection.

Honestly, all they'd have to do is make it 1080p and at as high a framerate as possible. Maybe upgrade the character models so that they aren't just a collection of polygons. That's the most work they'd have to do. People will buy this game in fucking bulk. No clue how SE hasn't put this forward yet, but they were fine with releasing XIV in the state it was at launch.

I'm currently replaying Final Fantasy VII right now and it doesn't need a remake, it kicks ass just the way it is.

But a remake would be nice :P

It would but I'm afraid they'd find a way to screw it up.

That's the exact same thing I would say if someone would ask me about buying another Final Fantasy game.

An MMO is a much larger investment and they didn't remake it from scratch.

FFVII HD Remake would basically be a New IP at this point and since they would probably make it multiplat, it be alot more complicated then simply reusing old models and slapping HD textures on them.

it's only the director's motivation but how about Square Enix ? I remember that Square Enix said that they not gonna make FF VII remake until another FF game surpass the old glory FF VII. It's sad but I think that they not gonna make it bro :v

That was during the previous CEO reign. The one that fell from grace.

You contradict yourself. Theres more stuff done on FF7 for a remake than there was stuff left over from the original FFXIV. The game was remade in a completely new engine. They remade every area and all models, remade the combat and all the systems. FFXIV:ARR was a considerable bigger effort than an FF7 remake would be. Because for FF7 they already have the whole game setting, storyline, systems and music. They just need to make the 3D models and setting from scratch (then again they can reuse much of the stuff used on Advent children).

So... nope. I cant agree with you.

You know, It kind of makes me wonder why they don&t just friggin kickstarter the idea, you&re not telling me there aren't enough nostalgia FF7 fans out there willing to put towards a remake, there would EASILY be enough to fund it and then some.

The idea that you can fund a AAA game is just stupid. The biggest Kickstarter ever in terms of gaming was I believe the Ouya with 8.5 million. You can add 10 or even 20 million more to be nice and it probably won't be enough to make a full FF VII remake the way both SE and fans want.

To put things in perspective, FF XII costed $48 million to make. It is speculated that FF XIII costed at least $60 million
