Forums - Gaming - Kitase on FFVII Remake:"You must believe me when I say it would take a lot to happen"

I'm currently replaying Final Fantasy VII right now and it doesn't need a remake, it kicks ass just the way it is.

I just simply dont believe that, Its a game that has already previously been created, all thats left to do is copy it and remake it with current tech. all the story level design, characters everything is already there for them. It just doesnt make sense his comments

They probably would have to remake all the assests, which is basically remaking the entire game. SquareEnix had the exact same problem with Kingdom Hearts 1.5

So if FFVII is too hard can we then please just have the FFVIII remake? It's more fun anyway.

This is exactly what Kitase is talking about. Alot of you believe its as easy as taking DMC games raising resolution then throwing it on shelves. Has anybody wondered why we have never seen a PS1 remasters? It is because the technology is PS1 games is too old to be of any use

 Ps1 - ps2 was a big jump

Ps1 - ps3 is a astronomical

Ps1 - ps4 is galaxies distance.

Combine that with fact FF7 is dated and below the standard of today, game design, tech, and writing.... It would be like making another entry. FAR beyond a simple remake.

I know that, its pretty obvious it would be like a new entry in the series but with the design and story fiinshed which is quite substantial and the mechanics and systems etc. So a new game takes what 2-3 years this theoretically should take 2 years max. Im not judging off of the ps1 game im judgiong against other studios like bioware, bethesda etc who make current gen games from scratch just like every other studio and doesnt make these rediculous comments

You know, It kind of makes me wonder why they don&t just friggin kickstarter the idea, you&re not telling me there aren't enough nostalgia FF7 fans out there willing to put towards a remake, there would EASILY be enough to fund it and then some.

Bioware and Bethesda aren't good examples to use because they use inhouse engines and large development teams and they aren't making that many new IPs if any at all.

In fact, if they want to remake it without changes to gameplay, they might not be able to use their avalible engines to remake it, nit to mention the teams are working on other projects.

FFXV has been in dev for 7+ years and KHIII has a dedicated fanbase of KH, SE thinks they can make more money with XIII and XIV

Japanese devs are still getting used to HD gaming. It would take them forever to finish it and they would need a ton of resources. A top western dev could knock out that project in four to five years without breaking a sweat.

I would really like to see a remake of some old ff games like 5 or 6 or 7 that I haven't played, on the 3DS.
They could make them look fantastic and keep the old-school feeling at the same time.

it's only the director's motivation but how about Square Enix ? I remember that Square Enix said that they not gonna make FF VII remake until another FF game surpass the old glory FF VII. It's sad but I think that they not gonna make it bro :v
