1)  Except they delete these assets too.   Since if you held such knowledge, you'd definitly remember that Kingdom Hearts 1.5 needed to be completely remade because Kingdom Hearts assets had been trashed.

2) Meanwhile, such assets sure didn't seem to keep down FF13's price down.

All videogame companies keep their assets around... and yet making games stays expensive as hell.

Like I said... likrly either lieing.  Or really not understanding what you saw.

Certaintly makes more sense the SE simply not doing anything for a couple generations... because they don't want money.

And Kitase saying that a FF7 remake would have to be the biggest project in his life.  Biggest project in your life sure sounds like a lot of work.

Espiecaly considering all the less then great financial results.

SE knows that a bad ff6,7,8 or 9 remake would destroy the FF brand. all the fns would see that SE ist rotten to the core and not able to make another good FF.

A)  They just remade FF6 not that long ago.  Hell it's on tablets isn't it?

B)  They released FF7 on steam and the Playstation Store so they can't be THAT worried about it.

C)  If your in the "It should only take them a couple weekends to spruce up (or down) a few art assets" club... how could they screw it up?

Don't feel bad peeps. You can tell by the way he talks that he lacks the drive to even do his own work. He would probably fuck up the remake.

You are entirely under the assumption when I propose a certain style of remake that this vision is in line with what they have in mind, in all likelihood they would approach it differently, build everything from scratch, change most parts up and keep the basic story and characters intact and make it no longer a turn based affair.

However, if they wanted to build one leveraging their existing resources in much less time, and less cost, they COULD, but again, that depends on what they want the resulting remake to be, a true to the original copy or a ground up rebuild, if there's one thing square are notorious for its rebuilding rather than using perfectly viable assets.

That however does not detract from my point of them having enough resources in their archives to greatly reduce the cost of developing a game that uses them, so pointing to them saying it would cost a lot when they're looking at it from a point of a completely from scratch remake doesn't take any of that in to account.

If you get any future employees be sure to send them my way, you would be surprised by just how many places this "nobody" could take them behind the scenes of the industry.

They're point of view is... to make it good.  You would very obviously need to rebuild a game to remake it.  You can't do hand drawn backgrounds anymore.  It would be way too divergant and transparent.

But if the new assets save that much time and are that great... it shouldn't matter if they want to rebuild the entire thing.

As for the offer.  Sure thing, though a word of advice.  If you are telling the truth... I wouldn't suggest it.

We had a game developer on staff actually... and he ended up regretting giving away his name and position.

Caused him quite a bit of trouble from what i recall.  What with NDAs and opinions being used against him, and all kinds of other issues.

Also, the whole tour thing is pretty dramatic when something as simple as an email corporate email would accomplish the same thing.

They don't want to remake it imo.

Indeed, which is the whole reason why If i am to divulge my identity, I would rather do it in person, I would not risk my job for the sake of an internet argument, and anywhere i take said staff member, they would be required to sign some forms before being issued a guest pass, effectively preventing them from divulging anything incriminating either.

Like where they couldn't say your name or face?   Doesn't seem like the standard kind of NDA that a company would have.  Nor the kind of thing a company would tolerate since that would pretty much give away the fact that you are bringing someone in specifically for the case of an internet arguement.

Even if it was tolerated it would just seem... embarrising.

But hey, if i'm in Japan ever i'll PM you.  Sounds like it'd be fun in either eventuality.

It depends entirely upon the circumstances, If i were to meet a member of staff and they came across as an idiot, I would most likely decide against it, If however they seemed genuinely interested and wanted a sneak peek at the projects in hand, I could quite happily bring them in on journalistic merit, providing of course they were actually going to do something worthwhile with their time there, and not just gawk at screens all day.
