Forums - Gaming - Hindsight: Which Console was REALLY more powerful? Super Nes or Genesis

The color pallet alone made the SNES superior. Seriously though, compare a game like TMNT: Hyperstone Heist to TMNT: Turtles in Time, and you have your answer.

2 year newer tech is faster! Who KNEW!?

You'd be surprised who didn't know! Now I can just link to this thread in the future.

SNES obviously wins.

SNES hands down even if it didn't  have the blast processing to run Sonic the Hedgehog.. Nintendo was simply too  cheap you know.

The SNES, but it wasn't a major difference.

The SNES was more capable at producing pretty graphics even though it's processor was slower and the ability to add extra chips to the cartridges was a very clever move. Games like Star Fox wouldn't be possible on Mega Drive. I do think Nintendo even held back a little though with the SNES's specs, because if they wanted they could have made something that would have decisively blown the Mega Drive completely out of the water considering the gap in release. Like NeoGeo did, that was the actual most powerful console of the 4th gen. Too bad no-one bought it .

I don't know because first Genesis was all like BLAST PROCESSING but then SNES was all like now you're playing with power SUPER POWER so I don't know!

The Genesis only welcomed us to the next level while the SNES went lightyears beyond:

"Haha! Your precious megadrive only has 3 buttons.. We have 6! LOSER!"

and thats how it went down back in the days..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Yes, I remembered back in the day how that impressed me, Yoshi Island used the FX Chip for it´s neat effects, but DK was all SNES with no steroids added.

It was such a simple time, nowdays nothing impress the kids anymore, all the magic is gone...

It was fun to see all the pre-rendered games back then. I remember Resident Evil 3, the enviroments were amazing for the time, but it looks like PS2-levek graphics just turned that technic obsolete. About the magic, maybe Internet killed it a bit. Back then, access to information was harder, so you really didn't knew how it was done. Today, it's all just a Google away.

SNES. The only advantage the Genesis had was a faster CPU. The SNES trumped it in every other metric. Blast Processing was ad gimmick.
