This is bigger news then Titanfall being exclusive to Microsoft platforms. Gears Of War belongs to Microsoft now with the new game being made by one of Microsofts's brand new studios. Cant wait to see what they do. GG Microsoft!
| Chark said: I think Gears will have far less impact this gen. Its latest installment did not fair well and I think franchise fatigue has set in. Is there possible future story development for the series? Will anyone care? I'm not sure if the fanbase will retain it as a must have, new IPs will be distracting them. |
GOW: Judgement was done by PEOPLE CAN FLY not EPIC.
EPIC, the guys that made GOW 1,2 and 3? That had Gears parents, Blezinsky and Rod?

What's surprising about his comment? I do think a Gears 4 would sell well, but i really can't see it making the same impact the original trilogy did. The prequel games for both God of War and Gears of War were released at about the same time and received about the same reviews, yet even under those nearly identical circumstances gears was still beaten by a smaller series. That quite obviously shows a decrease it's people interest for the series.

It might win back some if it's a genuine sequel or big change in the series' direction, as Judgement (just like God of War: Ascension), kind of proved that the series won't sell on name alone. If we get just another prequel, that'll just shy more people away.
MS should just keep doing what they are doing right now, pumping out games and making that their primary focus. Gears will certainly help them in that regard.
How? It was always exclusive and is years away, and it wont have the same impact as gears did early last gen, doesn't change anything.

And Epic is making the next gears? My point is valid.
Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

HUH? Why the wow? GEars was the first game that really made people people think next gen, it wont have near that impact, it's also being done by a totally different team, often when frnchises switch studios it doesn't end well, I annot see waht else they can do to that franchise.
I don't know why this would win many people back, i.e. former 360 gamers who bought PS4.
Spending investment money on buying a name, vs. putting money into new IP development, doesn't seem attractive.
MS will still need to develop the game,
presumably with new gameplay vs. old GoW titles as well as new directions in storyline, but the IP costs detract from what they could have invested in new IP.
Top notch innovative designers working exclusively for MS would be the thing that sways things in terms of exclusives, but MS doesn't seem to be able to manage a lock on that creative talent.
MS seems to be focusing on developing TV shows out of their videogames, while Sony already owns a movie studio with loads of solid IP they can exclusively use if they wish.
Money is still on the superior performance, lower cost, global customer base console winning the gen and leveraging everything for superior exclusives.
