I think the way to look at is this

If an Xbox 360 fan hasn't bought a ONE or a PS4 yet and plans to do so before holidays this year

Will he be tempted to buy a ONE for Halo, Titanfall and the prospect of Gears on the horizon?

Of course he will.

That's the same way I see it.  Ms made a great move purchasing  gow franchise.

You should research what the word valid means.

Can you please do that for me?

Call of Duty, Titanfall, Halo, Gears of War. Same old same old still going after the dude bro market who think they are too macho to play anything that isn't a testosterone soaked cigarette voice goatee shooter.

What's wrong with people playing the most interactive genre of them all?

I love soccer, fps and platformers. I'll never get tired of'em.

If you just like JRPG, Platformers that's ok too.

It's ok if you just like estrogen soaked cigarette spiky hair games.

Doesn´t MS has a really strong stable of Firstparty exclusives now? The Forza games usually sell around 4-5mn each, Halo around 10mn each, Gears around 6mn each and Fable around 3-4mn each. This is a collective potential of about 20-25mn sales for each iteration of their franschises, quite impressive if you ask me :).

Depands how you factor in the massive marketing Ms throw behind them and bundling.  ex Forza gets massive markleting and bundling, its sales could be seen as dissappointing given how much a push it actually gets.

Agreed, and it is always more difficult to generate big sales in the beginning of a generation. It all probably depends on how heavily the bundle Forza for example (which they usually are quite good at doing with that game).

The word "hardcore" and a shooter game in the same sentence? I think the right word is "Dudebro"!

Are you trying to say that "Dudebros" are not committed to play FPS?

Of course he will.

OK.   But the only thing that has 'changed' is that Gears will now not possibly be available on PS4.

If Gears fans were also interested in Halo, Titanfall, then they would already favor XBone even if the next Gears also came out on PS4.

So the only fans who will be swayed will be Gears fans who AREN'T at all interested in Halo, Titanfall.

Amongst those fans, there might be some who might like Gears but aren't such loyalists that this counters their other interests in PS4.

So it doesn't really change much IMHO.  But I can see why MS did it, because they don't want to lose ANY customers to Sony at this point.

Of course, this is a game that hasn't begun development, so realistically is 2-3 years down the road, so I wouldn't expect short term effects.
