Forums - Nintendo - Did you only buy the Wii for the Nintendo games?

No, I bought it for the Sony games.

yes they stuck a WiiMote in my mouth and threatened to shoot!

so I had to camp outside the store to get one

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Bought it for Wii Sports. I forgot there would also be other Nintendo games.

Yes. I was not forced against my own will though.

I bought mine on hype. It was so hard to get and everyone wanted it so bad. I wanted to see what the fuss was all about and be part of that whole mentality.

Yes, I bought it for Brawl, Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3, Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Skyward Sword, Kirby, Xenoblade, and many more... And anyone that says the wii didn't have the best Nintendo games can go fuck themselves cause the wii had some of the highest rated Nintendo games to date and also freakishly higher than a ton of its competitors in terms of review rating

Also had some of the worst third party games I have seen in the history of the gaming industry and games like wii music doesnt count

And it also had at least two great third party titles: No More Heros and Muramasa

Did you buy the Wii in 2011 or something?

Got the Wii due to the Wiimote and Wii Sports.

At the end of the generation I have 50+% third party games, and I own 63 Wii games.

Got it because of dat waggle hype. Got bored pretty quickly with games that heavily, or exclusively, used motion controls. Despite that, the Wii did have some great games.

"On my business card I am a corporate president. In my mind I am a game developer. But in my heart I am a gamer." - Satoru Iwata

The Wii is NOT my favorite system ever, but as a Nintendo-only fan it was pretty solid in the long run. I waited in line for 13 hours on launch day for Twilight Princess. No regrets. Ended up with about 30 games including some of my favorite single player games EVER: Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy, Skyward Sword, Xenoblade Chronicles, and The Last Story. Beyond that, I had more multiplayer fun on the Wii than I've ever had to this day online/offline on ANY other console. Thanks to the Wii I was able to have fun gaming with friends and family who otherwise would have never touched a game controller in their lives. Gaming is more than just a hobby to me, it's something I'm passionate about, and to be able to share that with the people around me in a way that they could intuitively understand and not feel intimidated by made the Wii something special. Goldeneye 007, Kirby's Return to Dream Land, Mario Kart Wii, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (the original only), Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Wii Party, Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, Rayman Origins, and others made for some of my favorite multiplayer gaming moments ever. The Wii receives a lot of flack, but it did what Nintendo set out to do: it EXPANDED gaming to the masses, and it brought people TOGETHER to have fun playing games. For that, I salute the Wii and Nintendo.

To the OP, I'm used to buying Nintendo systems so that I can buy Nintendo's games, so the Wii is not the exception, it's the norm. I don't have an unlimited income, nor unlimited time so the quantity of Nintendo's releases per year/system is usually pretty "good" for me personally. I DO wish they'd be less secretive about games they are working on though, and announce release dates sooner (without delaying so often) as I enjoy getting hyped leading up to game releases.
