Forums - Nintendo - Did you only buy the Wii for the Nintendo games?

I have no regrets over my Wii purchase back in 2006. There were many excellent games in the first 3 years of the system and then it became something that really only got CrapWare (by my standards) with a few isolated "good" games every few months like Skyward Sword and Xenoblade Chronicles.

The Wii U was 1-2 years over due when it came out, and even then... it was a year early (since the OS still sucked, and it didn't have Super Mario 3D World quality game at launch).

The thing is, the Wii came out before all the iOS / Android tablet gaming so it had a huge crowd of adopters. For better or worse, majority of them simply migrated to the tablets for their gaming. They prefer simpler games... and cheaper games and multi purpose machines.

The Wii was full of Horror games and fun RPG/Strategy games.

Moreso than what was going on with the anemic other consoles for a good part of the generation.I enjoyed it fully

I bought my Wii U primarily for Nintendo's own games. But with that said, I still buy third party games for Wii U. At the moment I have the following third party games:

ZombiU
Assasins Creed III
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Assasins Creed IV

In Q1 I will buy the following third party games;

Rayman Legends
Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut

And later on I will probably buy;

Watch Dogs
Project Cars

I consider third party games a bonus experience to the Nintendo experience.

Well I have a Wii U not a Wii, but I bought it to play Wii games (and of course be ready for the Wii U games I want), so does that count? In any case, the Wii games I bought were Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story, Pandora's Tower, and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. So not really for the Nintendo games, but sort of. I mean in Japan all of these were Nintendo published games, but here it's half Nintendo half Xseed Games.

Bought it mainly for NSMB Wii and the Nintendo/Xseed JRPGs. As well for all of the Resident Evil games, MH and Tatsunoko vs Capcom. So no not really; guess mainly for Nintendo and Capcom :P

..but I hate Mario Kart with the stupid motion controller using just the wiimote.  It ruined it for me and will never buy another MK again.

I bought it for Call of Duty.

Review scores were so inflated last gen. I don't think any long time Nintendo fan who actually played through Nintendo consoles is going to say that Wii had the best Nintendo games. I still to this day believe that that title belongs to the game cube. That console was home to the best modern Nintendo games.

No.

OoT/MM (N64) >> SS (Wii) >>> TWW (NGC) - TP came first on the Wii but it was a GameCube game.

Mario64 = Galaxy 1 >> Sunshine

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

i just wished I waited longer for the WIi to buy it. Could have saved myself 50 bucks, there was never anything on the console IMHO that was a must have. Goldeneye was my most played game by far, but even that got a better version on PS3. I was dissapointed by a lot of games that people deemed good. I think people just say that cause it was exclusive. There were a few stand outs. Tvs.C, HotD overkill, Mario Galaxy, grand slam tennis, but as i said even those had better counterparts or versions on HDs. So in the end it was like man I could have not bought the system and not missed much in the grand scheme of things. Never cared for the WIi series

At first I bought into it for the hype, but after awhile I began to accumulate a taste for the games Nintendo was putting out on it. Still have like 20 games I want on it.

No! Why would I do that?

I bought it because it said "Nintendo" on it.
