Forums - Nintendo - Did you only buy the Wii for the Nintendo games?

I bought it for any game that would release and make use of the innovative new control scheme. I really liked the idea of motion-controlled gaming, so I was really excited for new ways to play games in general. After the GameCube I felt kind of detached from Nintendo, so if the Wii were more of a direct successor to the GameCube I can't really say for sure I would have been excited for it.

Yes and no.

I buy all Nintendo consoles because I know I'll want the Nintendo games. But I also hope it would have the 3rd parties I want to play too. If only for selfish reasons of not having to buy another console I don't really want.

I actually bought it for Indiana Jones and The Staff of Kings, and later the Mario's and Zelda's and 54 other games from 1st party to 3rd party. I don't regret it, especially since I got it used with quite a few accessories - sd card etc for a very reasonable price.

Yes.  Twilight Princess. Mario Galaxy and Mario Galaxy 2. That's pretty much the whole story of the Wii.

..but I hate Mario Kart with the stupid motion controller using just the wiimote.  It ruined it for me and will never buy another MK again.

You do realize is optional, and you can play with the Gamecube controller or the Wiimote + Nunchuk, right?

I think it ended up being like that on it's own for me. No third party games.

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

I bought it mainly for the "new way to play" that at the end I didn't like at all & Mario Galaxy 1, just had like 15-20 games almost all of them first-party or exclusives. It's my least favorite Nintendo's console though. If I buy wii u or another system from them it will never be at launch again.

Sure, who gets a Nintendo system without Nintendo games?

Had about 25 games overall with about 20% third party.

One of my favorite consoles ever.

I know its optional which is why its more stupid that you'd need to purchase another controller/peripheral just to not use the motion. Why not just have an option menu in the game to turn the motion control on or off when only using the wiimote and use the d-pad instead? I think its very stupid.
