Forums - Sales - Sony: 4.2M, VGChartz: 4.1M

I thought that VGC estimates *sold through* units, which is why they're a bit lower than what the manufacturer says.

If you recall, Nintendo announced that they sold over 3 million Wii U's by end of 2012, but VGC has 2.2million.  Nintendo publishes shipped numbers I think, which is why in Apr~Jun they announced that they sold (shipped) almost nothing, as stores were still selling through their stock.

MS also announces *shipped* numbers I think, so when they say 3.2 million you have to take account that there's lots of unsold stock in shops now.

The number vgchartz now has is 4,131,558 that's a little under a 70,000 difference. They Adjusted up by over 200,000 after the announcement, so if you were pointing it out then, this thread would make more sense, now? what's the point really?

I was talking about 2013 in my original reply to you, do keep up.  Not, sure why you're dwelling on '07 so much.  You suggest Sony got 3M more than what they were selling, yet act as if same could never have happened to MS.  Bias much?

As for the channel stuffing, I just know it has been repeated on here quite a bit that early on MS did so to reach their arbritrary "gen winning" 10M figure, first.  The members who have said so (reason given was sales numbers being greatly below shipped) have been on her longer than I have been, nor have I seen them be challenged on this, so I figure it must be true.

Anyway, this is completely off topic to the thread about 4.2M+ PS4s being sold, so I will end this here.

Once again, the topic was the confusion amongst 2007 users. i don't care if you bring up 2013, the original topic was 2007, even before you started your reply....do keep up.

Oh my, you really ARE 2 steps behind, aren't you? Once again, if you're comparing shipping to sales, which is part of the ORIGINAL TOPIC, then you'd be on to something, but to half-state a sentance about Microsoft doing...something to reach some pathetic figure nobody cares about, and not mention WHERE in the process these units were being stacked (unlike the Sony side, which was CLEARLY between shipping and retail) and expect anyone to take it as the gospel becaue "it was repeated on here quite a bit" seems like a laughable proposition.

By the way, since you weren't around here in 2007, you really have no ground to stand when I state that of the new members who came to this site in 2007, the clear majority of them that claimed an undertracking bias were in Sony's favour, and citing Sony's financial report that displays SHIPPING figures. Oh and way to take the "religious stance" on this... "Well it happened before my time, and I don't hear legitimate criticism, so it must be true". Gold!

Caught up, yet? Are you going to bullshit further on about something that started off as a QUESTION TO AN EVENT THAT HAPPENED BEFORE YOU WERE HERE?!?! I sure hope not...you should see how foolish it's making you look...

Let's see you end it here, or are just interested in getting the last word in...

Sheesh...Talk about the Spanish fucking Inquisition....

Did Sony say sold to consumers or just "sold", which in industry speak means shipped. Only thing I've ever read is "sold" so I interpreted as shipped.

Sold to consumers. Also, according to ioi, shipped = sold.

O_o No way does shipped=sold for the purposes of VG Chartz numbers.

It is not possible that there are zero units in the supply chain, so there is no way that even for PS4 shipped=sold. Shipped~sold maybe. Even if the difference is only a few 10s of thousands the numbers are still not the same.

His words, not mine. Also, from the manufacturers point of view, shippd == sold.

Uhh before it was 3.9m

(3.9-4.2)/4.2 x 100= 7.1%, which is under their goal of 10%.

Why are you using 4.2m? seriously... we had official numbers for 1 and 2 million and when they hit those numbers. Ontop of which we had Nov NPD... they only had 2.2m left to track which is 14%.

Link please.

For the purposes of this thread the manufacturer's PoV is irrelevant. This thread is talking about the sales number on VG Chartz LTD sell through to 28 Dec 2013. Shipped=/=sold, not even for PS4.
