Is this a joke? Vitas a dud. Third parties supporting it is just more proof of a biased agenda regarding Nintendo. Not that it matters as the 3DS is dominating. But it is curious. The guy said developing for vita ruined him financially. What idiot would choose an installed base of 7m over 3DS'?

Well I've heard that there still studios doing ports for Wii U. Once you know that it doesn't sound as crazy.

Not sure what Wii U has to do with this. You probably have me confused with a Wii U supporter. Of which I'm not one. Vita is not a sound business investment. Sony doesn't have the first party muscle to drive hardware. This system will continue to sputter through the gen. And I doubt there will be a vita successor.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

None of those are D-rated in Japan. 3DS gets a couple of D-rated games in Japan though, but no one knows about that since they bomb hard.

LOL, yes, this posts confirms it. You're still mad about Bayonetta and Monster Hunter. You're providing no proof at all, but the Vita games are all doing great, while all the 3DS games are automatically bombing hard. Because they're on 3DS, you know.

Conception II sold 19K on Vita and 4K on 3DS

Exstetra sold 13K on Vita and 3K on 3DS

Stardust Amazones (3DS exclusive) sold 6K

High School DxD (3DS exclusive) wasn't even in MC chart

Could you even find more obscure titles? What's with Zero Escape. Not big in sales either, but the second one was on Vita too, so it's comparable. You also list 3DS-exclusives with bad sales. How is Fantasy Life doing? Or etrian Odyssey (IV and millenium girl)? Or Puzzle and Dragons?

I was asked for D-rated games, I gave D-rated games (altough 2 are C-rated but it's the same audience)

I don't think all is bad for Vita. Yes, it soldworse in it's second year, compared with the first. But Sony was able to save it somewhat in Japan. The Vita has nearly doubled it's sales in 2013 in Japan, compared to 2012. Yes, that means it's very bad in europe and the US, but Sony could go for the strategy to concentrate on one market. And to some degree it's working. The Vita is getting support from Japanese 3rd-parties. Not the best, true enough, but it should be enough to help the Vita survive in Japan alone and build from that a base for the next gen.

you can add atelier rorona remake to the list of likely localisations this year. it was out in japan in november and it's the only one missing from the arland trilogy so far.

Did I forget Rorona? Oh, shame on me... Fixed :)

Ah, you're right, I was not seeing that part. Sorry, I assumed your choice of games being based on bias. I was wrong on that.

I honestly suspect that Nintendo has had publishers keep all of their 2014 titles secret, for some big unveiling, or something like that (1). Consider that neither Sega nor Ubisoft (2), both of whom have been supporting Nintendo very strongly, have anything announced for 2014. A similar thing can be noted regarding Namco Bandai and Tecmo Koei (2), both of which have supported Nintendo quite well, and both of which are co-developing titles with Nintendo (3).

"(2) Those publishers don't sell jackshit on Nintendo platform (or at last not that more than on Vita, where digital sales are higher)"

REALLY? The top 3 Namco Bandai games on 3DS combined outsell the top 8 Namco Bandai & Tecmo Koei games on Vita combined. The Top 5 on 3DS all sell better than the best on Vita. Ridge Racer 3D alone quadrupled Ridge Racer Vita head-to-head. I stopped the Vita list when the global sales got down to .10, but for the sake of brevity I stopped the 3DS at .18 or would have been much longer.

Probably not the place to discuss this, but I didn't realise the Japanese sales of Abyss & Innocence were so close together.  If Bamco had got it localized in time for Vita's first holiday, alongside Persona 4 Golden, I reckon we'd actually be seeing pretty close figures between the two.

The difference in quality between both games is quite visible aswell.

Not that Innocence R looks bad, but Abyss is one of the best and most popular installments of the series. Innocence was the remake of a mostly unpopular DS game, in comparison with other mainlines (lets be honest, in terms of characters and story the games are worlds apart aswell). The 3 DS Tales are seen as a low point for the series. It almost killed the Tales of studio. These remakes were the atempt at salvaging something.

The last thing I want to do is nitpick about the indie game section, but Hometown Story should be marked with a (2).

And Shantae and Shovel Knight need a spot in there. :P

Regarding the chart itself, I think it would be safe to merge the Sony/Nintendo rows into a simple "first-party" section. We're all well aware that Sony doesn't have any games in development for the 3DS, nor Nintendo for the Vita. :) Then you'd have more room in the other sections.

There are a few 3DS games missing:

Professor Layton & the Azran Legacy (Level 5, Americas release)
Persona Dungeon Q (Atlus, June)
Puyo Puyo Tetris (Sega, February)
One Piece: Romance Down (Namco, February, Americas)
The Lego Movie Videogame (Warner, 2014, Americas)
Chibi Robo (Nintendo, January)
Shantae and the Pirate´s Curse (Wayfoward, March)
