Forums - Microsoft - Xbox One for $349.99?????

I don't see 349 happening anytime soon.
449- maybe. 399- a stretch, but possible. 349?- not for another 3-4 years unless ms just starts cutting prices left and right if they get manufacturing costs down a ton.

Me? I'm just waiting on titanfall and halo 5 to get one, no matter the price.

Buy one secondhand without Kinect. That's what I plan to do if I ever buy an Xbox One. That should instantly drop it by $100+ dollars.

But if you want a brand new one with Kinect hahahaha good luck getting one in the next 2-3 years.

So, I was just looking at pricing histories for various consoles. Here are the first two price drops for each 6th and 7th gen console:

Xbox
-$100 (7 months after release)
-$20 (19 months after release)

PS2
-$100 (18 months after release)
-$20 (30 months after release)

Gamecube
-$50 (7 months after release)
-$50 (23 months after release)

Xbox 360
-$20 (21 months after release)
-$80 (34 months after release)

PS3
-$100 + bigger hard drive (12 months after release)
-$100 + bigger hard drive (33 months after release)

Wii
-$50 (34 months after release)

The trend is that the more expensive a console is to start with, the faster you see price drops. The Xbox One is the most expensive console this generation. Like I said above, I expect we'll see $450 or 400 in time for Holiday 2014, $400 or $350 by Summer 2015, and $350 or $300 by Spring 2016.

Good data.  I think it also shows that whichever console is losing in sales gets cut quicker.

PS2 taking 18 months for any change, while Xbox & Wii cut in 7 months.
Wii & X360 taking 34 months for a serious cut, while PS4 took a big cut in 12.

So I think XB1 will get cut quick and deep, because it's expensive and will be killed by the PS4 :P.

My 8th gen collection

Not anytime soon the first price cut might only be $20 dollars.

I doubt the xbox one is getting or will be killed by the ps4.

It will definitely be outsold by the ps4 (many people see a $100 difference and will automatically jump at the cheaper product), but I doubt the xbox one will sell poor enough to see a very quick and 'deep' price cut.  Titanfall and Halo 5 (and probably fable legends) will keep the boosts coming, not to mention the other exclusives.

Think about it this way, the Xbox 360 released for $399 in 2005 and the 250GB Xbox 360 in 2013 is $249....

The PS2 was $299 in 2000 and $199 in 2002.

Consoles don't drop in price like they used to. Maybe if we are lucky it will go to $399 in the next two years.

Titanfall & Halo 5 versus $500 price tag.  I don't know, it could be close in the US.

Europe seems to be Sony land, so that's where they may need to cut first.

It's amazing how well the Xbox one is selling considering the fact that it's $100.00 more then PS4. The Kinect doesn't add anything to the gameplay experience and there really hasn't been any game that showcase the power of Kinect as a gaming peripheral. The Kinect bundled with Xbox one should only cost an extra $50 not worth the extra $100.

I bet the Titan fall - Xbox One bundle will retail at $499, while the Xbox One get a price cut to $449.99 in March 2014.

The reason Xbox One sells well at its price is called America. Microsoft has made a name for itself just like Sony in America, plus it has all the top third party games and people like the OS. The Kinect is worth $99. Its the PS Eye that is cheaper, but bundled with the Move tends to cost a little more. If Sony beats them worldwide they'll drop the Kinect though, but MS isnt willing to leave it to chance that the Kinect will sell the way they want it to without being bundled to the Xbox One. Again, everything Microsoft will do from this point on depends on how well Sony does. Microsoft will give no one any such bundle at $499 unless they drop the Kinect.

The trend is that the more expensive a console is to start with, the faster you see price drops. The Original Xbox was the most expensive 6th gen console at the time it launched, it dropped $100 after 7 months, the PS3 was the most expensive 7th gen console, it dropped $100 and gained a bigger hard drive in 12 months.  The Xbox One is the most expensive console this generation. you forgot the WiiU

WiiU
$299 - $50 (10 months after release)
