Absolutely not. I saying that someone else was the one who brought it up and I responded to them. That was not my initial point.

a million had no problem playing the game when it first released. So like you said yourself there was a install base with those kinds of numbers, so your people didnt want to play it theory is flat out false. Why did sales drop? So how much of these imaginary people exist? Matter of fact you might be right, they moved on to the other systems and in the case of WIi U it wasnt selling that great anyway, so they seemed to skip that and jump into PS4/xone camp. Was it really a month late? I thought it was a week, so let me ask, if a Wii U owner and im assuming this person ONLY has a WIi U, why not wait? its not like they could get it for systems they dont own. Hell ME2 was a year late on PS3 and still managed to do more than a mil being released at FULL price. I heard the framerate it on par. But with a console base of 4 mil after a year, one has to wonder why even bother. |
MW was a megahit and so was the DS; Ninty gamers probably wanted in on the game in some form. It had an isolated million seller, not the string of them Wii had.
People who own multiple consoles are prone to buy multiplats where they are best. A Wii U version on date and on-par or better would be a far more attractive buy than one that was late and subpar. Then there's Wii U owners not wanting to support bad ports.
That Gamasutra link confirms what we've speculated for eons, Nintendo doesn't give a damn about 3rd party support. That's fine when your hardware is dominating the market, but with the Wii U it shows how narrow minded and costly that attitude can be.

"You have to do what Sony and Microsoft have been doing with us for a long time," he notes. "It's not that every time we met with them we got all the answers that we wanted, but they involved us very early on, talking to folks like Bethesda and Gearbox, saying, 'Here's what we're doing, here's what we're planning, here's how we think it's going to work,' to hear what we thought, from our tech guys, and from an experience standpoint."
Nintendo did not provide any of this upfront legwork, Hines adds, and as such it was much more difficult for companies like Bethesda to choose to support the console.
"You have to spend an unbelieveable amount of time upfront doing that," Hines says. "If you're going to sort of decide 'Well, we're going to make a box and this is how it's going to work, and you should make games for it," - well, no! No is my answer!"

Right out of the gate that crappy CPU responsible for those low framerate's would have gotten a lot of opposition. Sad because the Wii U gamepad would would do great in both W and J RPGs though we wont get much of that now will we?
Good ports from X360 to Wii U are too complicated and expensive. Third parties would only do them with Wii sales numbers. I don't blame them for this because it would be stupid to put as much effort to it like they do with PS3 ports if it only sells 100-200k.
But don't judge Wii U's hardware capabilities by multiplats.
The Wii U CPU has to do all the tasks the X360 CPU does. I don't think they use the GPGPU for physics and AI or the separate audio DSP.
Most Wanted U is the only 3rd party game that profits from the bigger RAM.
Not sure if they even use the eDRAM (X1 has a similar problem).

There's even a 3DS bundle with a weird dating game in Japan soon. |

That doesnt answer my question why did sales drop and continue drop after intial release? Its ok if you dont know. The they dont want to play it on a small screen doesnt hold water.
OK, thats fair, still doesnt explain why the PS4/Xone versions did MUCH better than Wii U versions, did Wii U owners also buy those systems in mass? Kind of doubt that. You still answer my question i was talking WII U ONLY owners, not multiplat. whats stopping them?
No, I dont think Activition will abandon Nintendo, maybe as in like Call of Duty series, but Im sure they'll continue selling Skylanders on Nintendo systems.

First of all the Wii U isn't even getting ports of most of the third party games coming to current gen so that should already be a warning to you. Witcher 3 The Division FF XV Kingdom Hearts 3 Cyberpunk 2077 (Devs said it is most likely coming to next gen even though it isn't listed)
Most of the major next gen games showing off the start of next gen are exclusives though. Those are just a handful of wave of next gen games. Once third parties are no longer dependent upon the sales of the last gen HD Twins the installed bases of the next gen HD Twins would've grown. That is when they will go all out. Wii U is still getting table scraps as it is right now. They wont dumb down the games any longer. "The time for convincing publishers and developers to support Wii U has long past. The box is out." Is out of?... American third party support?! You mean the same kind of support they never had since the SNES days?
That is ridiculous. What angers the american third parties is that they cant control Nintendo and quite honestly, Nintendo can survive without them.
People buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games and other exclusives (wich usually are partnerships with Nintendo). This idea that third parties make a difference is completely on the realm of fantasy. Nintendo doesnt need third party support. People dont buy Nintendo systems for third party games. Get over it. Thats why they dont sell in the first place.
The only thing that is out are these fantastic theories that having american 3rd party support would make any difference.

I knew this comment would pop up sooner rather than later. They're not supporting the Wii U version because a whole four people purchased the game. They're not going to spend time and money releasing DLC in the future when the game didn't sell well. This specific DLC was free, but when porting the paid DLC over won't gain them a profit, you won't see that either. -- Nintendo fans only buy first party games and sometimes exclusives, so third party developers should drop them. It's a waste to support a fanbase that only cares about the latest rehash of Mario, Zelda, etc. |
