Forums - General Discussion - Why do Americans praise fat people that lose weight?

What the fuck are you talking about. As if people who are obese lack discipline, they're not getting fat becoz they want to. Some people eat a lot and dont get fat, its how their body works. My bro eats a lot of junk food, doesnt work out and is still a skinny dude.

I have lost around 20kg in the past 2.5 months, went through hell to make that happen, that is showing discipline and being resolute despite being hungry all the time and withstanding temptation of eating food. I got overweight this year through personal problems and depression. You are incredibly arrogant if you think there is not a story attached to overweight people. Its easy to say that fat people should just quit eating and go to gym, but from your POV you will never understand how hard the transition is. Still 10kg to go, I really feel like a hero that should be applauded.

I'm sorry, Turkish.  I always assumed you looked like Jason Statham from the movie "Snatch".

It was more of a tongue in cheek thread made in the spur of the moment.  I'm sure you're not going to let the words of some internet random discourage you.  Keep up the hard work, man.  In all honesty, I understand overcoming circumstances that you may or may not have control over.  I just approach situations with a bit of levity.  Some times, it's in poor taste.

Why .. how on earth could you think a Turkish person looks like Jason Statham! lol

Losing weight does not make you a hero ...

I guess we have the media to thank for the reason obesity rates are dropping in the US.

Actually we aren't all on the same level. It depends on your body-ype

Ectomorph - Slim narrow body, high metabolism, and has a hard time gaining muscle but loses fat easily.

Mesomorph - Broad shoulders and can either gain or lose wait easily

Endomorph - Stocky build with a slow metabolism. Can gain muscle or fat easily.

When it all comes down to it, it comes to eating correctly and not being lazy. However not everybody is on the same level.

However the thing that irritates me is the acceptance of overweight. Example would be a model in a magazine. People complain because theyre "too perfect". Really? Shut the hell up and put some work in instead of going to mcdonalds every day -_-

Because it is not easy and is good for your health

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

I wouldn't say people here praise them.. Maybe just a "nice work!" or pat on the back.

Better to get fat and lose the weight than simply get fat and stay fat.. Also it's much much easier to gain the weight than to lose it, speaking as someone who has lost nearly 30 pounds in the past few years. Probably took me a year to gain that weight and mainly was a result of me sitting around and eating all the foods I liked, whereas to lose it (and keep it off) I had to implement a pretty hardcore 4-5 day a week workout regimen, cut way back on my junk foods and drinking, eat more boring vegatables, and that took me roughly twice the time.

Out of curiosity, what sort of eating habbits did you have and change to?

I always find it a bit sad when people mention boring food when trying to lose weight. A lot of people just don't know all the great things you can eat that also make you feel better. I don't drink alcohol or soda, no junk food or processed food and I really try to limit products with added flavours and colourings, yet not a single boring meal. The mind just needs to be open to new experiences.

I'd also like to point out that keeping it together your entire life is by no means any less of an accomplishment than getting it back together.

I saw some weight loss show. I don't think it was Biggest Loser.  It was similar but it just had a regular guy.  Do you think these people are being exploited a little?
