No. Nintendo did the exact same thing with StarFox Adventures. The Gamecube had a similar problem with games coming out. The demand must really be getting to them. Miyamoto forced Rare to reskin Star Fox Adventures in a similar fashion when they were working on a new IP back in the GC era. This will probably turn out worse. Nintendo isn't making the game. Its the Dynasty Warriors team.

The only way I can see this being a hit is if people are fans of Dynasty Warriors. From the look at the sales on VG Chartz of Dynasty Warriors their glory days were in the early 2000's on the PS2 and thats where it ends.

If you don't remember history you're doomed to repeat it.

Nintendo is always desperate. They've been doomed since...

Never said they were doomed, just desperate. The only thing they are doomed to is to repeat bad mistakes in history like cheap reskinning to push a game with the Zelda name out to people. As I said before, they did the same thing to Star Fox. Funny...we haven't seen a Star Fox since.

I don't think it's a sign of desperation.  If they pulled staff from Zelda U to work on this or if they cancelled or delayed that project for this one, then it would be desperation.  There's a third party working on it.  It's finally some third party support from a Japanese developer and it helps in both Japan (because of the genre) and the west (because it's Zelda) in a critical year for the Wii U.  It's a smart move, and a win win.

Genuine question here from an ex Nitendo fan.

Why does every single Nintendo title look cartoony?

Nintendo didn't used to be like this. In fact on the N64 they took Zelda in a more realistic looking direction in terms of colour etc, different than Mario 64 for example.

I cant for the life of me why Nintendo never make games that opt for a more real look? Its frustrating for a person who grew up with graphical pushing Nintendo systems and games.

This doesn't make me not interested in gameplay. Im not a snob. I would love to see Zelda look realistic.

I think this game looks amazing! And I'm sure it will look even better when they are close to launching! I've wanted a good "I'm in the middle of a war" Hyrule game for a while! lol

Tecmo Koei is developing this, not Nintendo so if you think the art style is too cartoony, blame them.

My daint beauty, you're still not getting it. Nintendo isn't making the game. They just had Tecmo Koei reskin the game. As Kotaku said, they seem to be using it as a stop gap. Thats called desperation. They did the same thing with Starfox.

They said this direct would be focused on spring releases. So does that mean they're pushing hyrule warriors for spring?

It's for games up until August, said Nintendo of Australia. Seeing how many hearts Link had in some of the trailer's scenes, I imagine they're pretty well along their way with it, so I can see it releasing by August.

OT: Not sure if the OP is serious or not, but the game overall really didn't look that great, which is typical of Dynasty Warriors games. Maybe they'll polish it up some by the time it releases, but I wouldn't expect to ever be able to call this game beautiful. I do like the scarf they gave Link though!

Yeah in one of the other directs they listed it as "Summer 2014", and I'd find that believable.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

Im not gonna lie. I read that and it had me scratching my head. Links health can be decreased and increased on a whim. That trailer didnt look far along at all..and that is good.

If people think that the existence of games like this is "desperation", then Nintendo was apparently almost dead with desperation when they released Link's Crossbow Training.

Which isn't true at all.

Y'all are weird.
