Forums - Nintendo - Why Nintendo's software can no longer carry their home consoles...

They won't carry their consoles.  Did you read everything I said?

-MGS4 was amazing! But Uncharted, Resistance, Little Big Planet, Killzone, and so many more NEW games proved that this wasn't just a PS2.

I read everything you wrote, and what I found was a lack of direction in the OP, except bashing Nintendo for being less and less creative. You have no point to this thread. This is how the OP goes:

Nintendo is less and less creative, doing less and less NEW things with new or old IP's (and this thesis is supported with little evidence, that you have put together without much research), but lets NOT bring the other console makers into this because third parties. BUT, Sony did make a lot of new IP's for the PS3, and so did Xbox as well... kinda. And then you have lots of new next gen IP's that's not coming to Wii U!

Do you notice your inconsistency? What is the POINT? I think it has something to do with new experiences in games, and that you're criticising for not delivering that, and at the same time you try to shelter MS/Sony by saying that they don't NEED to offer new experiences since they have 3rd party support. But then you go ahead anyways and say that MS/Sony offered a lot of new IP's this gen.

I guess you're trying to say that innovation sell hardware? But then again, you implied that Wii had less new fresh ideas than previous Nintendo consoles, so that would counter your own point since it sold the most last gen, and especially if we consider your statement that PS3 got a lot of new experiences but still hardly beat box...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Nintendo needs newer ips and games for older gamers and more third party games.
Mario and donkey kong can't carry Nintendo for ever

I think the OP is being a bit hasty.
Comparing an one year old system that lacked games for most of it`s current lifespan to systems who were 5 years on the market, is a bit unfair.

About the games, i only consider the 1st and 2nd party games and not exclusives (if not, X, Bayonetta 2, Lego City, etc.)

Regarding N64: Starfox 64 is a tough call as it started on SNES. Although there`s a big difference in graphics you have to remember that the difference between SNES and N64 was like night and day.

GC: Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing started on N64 - and HM is not even a 2nd party game, so it shouldn`t count.
I would add Wind Waker to GC as it did change the Zelda formula a lot.

On Wii U you should count Super Mario 3D World. No 3D Mario on a home console is like this one.
Also, NintendoLand.

How is Mario 3D World so different.  Not being sarcastic, I am actually curious.

How is Ghost diffrent from MW2

Im not being sarcastic or making fun of your absolutely dumb comment at all im just really curious.

It isn't, and as such its sales have fallen off a cliff.

You say I have no point, and yet you state correctly that my point is that Nintendo is failing to continue the creative formula that has been essential to them staying in the black more and more as time goes on. But there are some massive points you are not getting or don't understand:

1) Third parties are a valid point as many other people pointed out.  Not having The Division, The Witcher, and countless more next gen experiences is exactly why the Wii U looks like a last-gen machine.

2) Sony DID make a ton of new IP's that did things the previous gen never did.  Remember that persistant online war with 256 player battles you had on PS2?  Me neither...

3) I am not "Bashing" Nintendo.  I am merily pointing out that rehashes of old IP's only get you the hardcore supporters (Hence the big launch numbers).  But to convinve the larger gaming audience that this new console will offer new experiences you need to actually have fresh and groud breaking games.  Nintendo used to excel at that, and that is what kept them allive when third parties abbandoned their inferior console designs.  Now they are starting to lose the one thing that kept them afloat and it really shows...

So a shooter, an open world shooter and another shooter are the new innovative games of this new gen ?

Ok, I think I'm skipping it then.

What point are you trying to make?  You see "Another Open world shooter"  where many of us see a persistant and evolving war with parcour and mech elements that have never been used in an online shooter before.

It would be like calling Little Big Planet "Another Platforming Game."  If you can't see what sets it apart from other games similar to it, then you are the person with the problem.

My point is Half Life 2, Arma, Planetside 2, Far Cry 3, Crysis, you got it.

Those games you mentioned are generic formulas, with new characters. Far from new experiences.

Nothing wrong with that, whatever grinds your gears, but calling those games innovative experiences that you can only have now, on the mid-range powered undercover PC's called "next gen" consoles is kinda funny :)

You want an innovative game in the FPS genre ? Take a look at portal perhaps. Anti chamber also. Now that's innovative and never seen before.

Like I said you simply don't see the good in the small random list of the games I mentioned.  There are many more, and most of them haven't even been anounced.  Again, go ahead and skip this generation if you want.  We won't miss you...

Please guys, stop with these brainless threads

when did Nintendo ever sell home consoles on 1st Party alone?? NES and SNES both had a plethora of 3rd party support. once that left we got the N64 and GCN, yeah werent sales on them great. Wii pulled off the unthinkable and made video games popular with everyone, Wii U is back to typical Nintendo without support and sales will reflect that.

That's true, the difference being though that there isn't a seperate EA console that you have to buy just to play Madden and NHL. Or a Rockstar console that plays GTA.

Those franchises share the same platform and as such those said platforms have wider appeal.

If Sony was cut off from third party support and could only offer God Of War, Gran Turismo, Uncharted, etc. ... they probably wouldn't sell more than 12-15 million consoles either.

more doom, yeah.
