When I pluck down my money on a Playstation console, 3 things I'm certain that I do not have to worry about for the lifetime of the console.

(1) Diversity in genres
(2) New IP's & Lots of Indie Titles
(3) Steady flow of 3rd party titles

Why do I need a Nintendo Box ?

The best first party games in the business, bar none.

Well millions disagree with you.  The Last Of Us, Demon's Souls, Killzone, InFamous, Resistance, MAG, MGS4, LBP,  Heavy Rain, and Uncharted are games I could not imagine going through last gen not playing.  Guess what?  8 of those were 100% new IP's.  There isn't Uncharted Party 3 or Killzone racing.  Nintendo isn't unchallenged in the games department...

Well apparently a lot of people can go through not playing those because non of them broke 10m

While I agree that Sony has a great first party line up (Uncharted and God of War are some of my favorite games) sales have historically been much better for Nintendo first party games and many have remained extremely popular for decades.

Im not sure what new IPs has to do with what he said.......And there is no Killzone Racing but there is LittleBig Planet Karting

Nintendo Land

Wonderful 101

SiNG Party

Super Mario 3D World

All four titles are different from things that came before. Nintendo Land uses old franchises as inspiration, but does its own thing with them - if you count New Super Mario Bros (which started on DS, by the way), and you count Resident Evil 4, and you count Super Mario Galaxy (which is really just a tweak of Super Mario 64 in terms of overall concept), then Nintendo Land is an incredibly big change.

Wonderful 101 is a new franchise that was originally going to use Nintendo characters in a completely new way.

SiNG Party is Nintendo moving into a field that they don't normally do.

Super Mario 3D World is the first time ever that 3D Mario has been a multiplayer game - that makes it far more "new" than Super Mario Galaxy.

And for the record, it's "Wii Fit", not "Wii Fitness". And neither Harvest Moon nor Resident Evil 4 weren't Nintendo games (and Harvest Moon began on the SNES, with the GC version not particularly "new"). And if you're going to include those, why aren't you including Sonic Lost World? Or ZombiU? Or Bayonetta 2?

Simply put, your entire premise is flawed.

OP: First, since you put goodneye, you should put zombiu, and w101 too, they are really unique and never ever before you could find something like then.

Second, its weird that you think that they can't carry with their old ip when this was exactaly what they did with the 3DS. Animal crossing, mario kart, SM3DL, nobody cared about steel diver, kid ikarus, they where the really innovative ips on the machine. And 3rd support find a low level of success actually, except for MH.

You guys are really ignoring another factor: price. Nintendo never lanched a hardware so expensive before, even game cube was more cheaper. And while 3Ds had a 30% price cut, wiiu had a 15% one, and not exactally, since there areadly was a option sitting at $300. So now we have a hardware that looks like the one selled at $150, but have a price tag closer to the $400-$500 ones.

I find incridible how nintendo developed the gamepad, and seems that not a single person in there said: hey, lets think about a game that really use this thing before shipping? How couldn't thisnk of this before nintedo, what really happened in there?

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

You put these in the same league as Super Smash Bros and Super Mario 64?

So Zombie U is as innovative now as Golden Eye was?  Really?

Also W101 got mediocre reviews and sold nearly nothing...

I put Super Mario 3D World in the same league as Super Mario 64 (certainly closer to SM64's league than Sunshine is). The others are a demonstration that Nintendo is most certainly producing a greater variety of software than you are willing to acknowledge.

But hey, acknowledging these things gets in the way of bashing on Nintendo, right?

But the OP included games such as Wii Fit and Mario Sunshine in his list. So I think adding SM3DW and Nintendo Land to the Wii U list is more than reasonable.  I personally liked Nintendo Land and SM3DW heaps more than Wii Fit and Sunshine.

And yeah.. SM3DW should be considered in the same league as SM64 and SSB. Have you even played SM3DW?
