Getting every coin, every secret exit and beating the game as both Mario and Luigi while also getting top of the flag as both of them (I did both could have been just one) while also never using the white leaf gives you 100% and that damn mirror shadow always was a pain in the butt and made it more difficult/frantic as well as more fun and rewarding on getting through it.

That is where the fun was, can't wait for 3D World.

I find Castlevania Symphony of the Night too easy, but finishing it on the luck mode difficulty with no equipment makes it extremely difficult.  There are a lot of personal challenges a player can do, doesn't mean the player rushed through the game if he didn't choose to do them.

Explain your definition of "rushing through a game".

On a level based platformer?  Using the warp zones or warp whistle.

On a level based platformer that you can't skip stages.  How do you rush in a platformer?  It's not like you're skipping text, skipping dungeons, skipping levels, skipping missions, etc.  You can't rush on a platformer that requires you to play just about every single stage available.

How I mentioned Uncharted earlier?  When Uncharted 4's single player is reviewed and called out for only being six to eight hours long, I'm going to say they were rushing because they didn't get all 100 treasures.  It's fair isn't it?

*edit*

Doing a speed run on a players first attempt at a game?  Yeah.  Sure he is.  Because we all know how most journalists are absolute pros at video games.  They do speed runs all the time. /s

Besides.  Speed runs aren't players rushing on some games.  Those are just players not sucking and playing a lot better than the majority of us, as well as using tricks to get past certain points quicker.  A speed run on Castlevania is still going to go through every stage, but there are tricks that people who aren't playing their first time will know to get better times.  Examples below.

Oh, and yeah.  Stage 21.  The game loops.  That's the second playthrough for the first set of pictures.  Basically you wait at that spot and jump to land on the top of the bat, get damaged, and get knocked over to the other side, skipping having to go down the stairs right there and then back up on the other side, skipping one room.  The second set of pictures, you avoid having to go to the right then back left across the moving platform.

It's not rushing, it's playing through the exact same game better than the average player.  If you die 100 times it's not our fault it takes you 15 hours to beat and us only four(not talking about Castlevania here.)

You really didn't get the point. -__-

I get it. But I also don't feel sorry for anyone who expected to buy the game "when the price goes down".

I'll agree/disagree depending on if we're talking about Nintendo of Awful or Nintendo of Europe. In Europe people certainly got the chance to buy the game, and it's still possible to get a new copy without shelling out a small fortune (my game store of choice recently got a batch of new, shiny Xenoblade copies), but there's no excuse whatsoever for the treatment Xenoblade got from NoA. Not only did American gamers have to beg for the game but when it finally got released the one and only shipment was tiny and limited to a single store chain. Inexcusable.

Why would someone rush through a Mario game... -__-

The point of these games is to uncover every secrets, starts, secret levels, etc... That's where the length and challenges reside.

It's not like most games where you rush to see the story.

cause some people dont care about getting 100% completion

you have to make a point for me to avoid it.

That point was that you came in here just to argue for the sake of arguing. You have proven me right time and time again already.

2 times longer than your average generic dudebro shooter.

Not bad.

Colleting all the stars and unlocking secret levels may take you a while though.

Pretty sure you can spend hours upon hours playing a "dudebro" shooters multiplayer.

Even if it was "only" 8 hours. Surely 8 amazing hours are better than 20 mediocre hours?

rushing its 8hours long

Oh I know, but I don't get this obsession these days with "long" games. I'd rather have an amazing game that's shorter, than a so-so one that's longer. To me the shorter game would still be far better value.

very true, aside from rpgs, they need to be long!

Play Xenoblade Chronicles, long + Quality

Have had the EU Classic Controller Pro Limited Edition box set since day 1 ;) and yes, fantastic game.

Also have the LE box sets for Pandora's Tower and Last Story. (Finally some perks to being a UK gamer! Nintendo owe us big time for the last 20 years! hehe)

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Change the title. It was already said that he rsuhed it and that it will have more in store for us after playing through it like 3D Land.

It's not.. End of story.

There is no such thing as *rushing* through a mario game. Therefore, the title shall stay the same.
