Yes, none of those three options are anything to be proud of, but that's what you get when you say something as intelligent as "If dogs really have brains, then why can't they talk?"

I'm conviced that the thing you are referencing is a troll video of a very high order.

Bla bla bla. I'm not going to address Rolstoppable's comment... Bla Bla Bla

I made points after that. I was replying to the part where you said I jumped into the argument after you did. Which isn't true. You jumped in here, in this very thread, to argue what I originally said about Mario games and their appeal. You argued that people don't necessarily rush if they beat such games real fast.
That not everyone likes to go through levels again to play the new content that is unlocked as you play more of the game. Sure, some people buy iMacs just browse the internet and do nothing more on that computer... Doesn't make it smart, but ok.

I suspect you don't play much Mario games. But that's beside the point. Mario games aren't about story or online play. The point of Mario games is their level designs and diverse gameplay mechanics from level to level or objective to objective. If you skip level to finish the game faster, you really are missing the point of such games. I know that for you, it's an alien notion. You need to receive a tasteful cookie after every single accomplishment for the game to keep your short attention span. New content and new levels aren't enough...

It would be interesting to see how many trophies you have. xD

WTF? Doing the minimum of levels to get to the end, skipping collectables, warp zones, no exploring on the world map, doing only the easy levels. Flying over levels. There are tons of ways to rush a Mario game. Give me a break.

Link me to where the guy said he skipped levels and only did the easy levels and I will change the title but from what I read, he never said so and he was implying that he didn't do any of the extras. And skipping the extras is not rushing through the game.

He did say he was rushing so he probably missed most of the green stars, did only a couple optional levels and he is now went back to the game fora second more complete playthrough.

There are many equally valid sources in the neogaf thread that said that it is more than 8 hours

I see that this thread delivered. Juist like six years ago, we got the same inane arguments that achievements and (pointless) collectibles are equal to additional levels.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=9571&page=1

What's baffling is that by now everyone should know that there is plenty of optional meaningful content in 3D Mario games, so the above arguments shouldn't even be put forward in the first place. You only had to collect 70/120 stars to finish Super Mario 64, 50/120 shine sprites to finish Super Mario Sunshine, 60/120 stars to finish Super Mario Galaxy, 70/120 stars to finish Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Super Mario 3D Land also offered its fair share of content after beating its world 8, plus skippable levels on the way to the end. So what reason is there that Super Mario 3D World wouldn't be the same? None, nevermind that it has already been confirmed that SM3DW is no different.

Yet here we are again and have to hear about how treasures in the linear Uncharted games are comparable to 3D Mario games where players can skip entire levels and even worlds. Or how achievements which urge you to play exactly the same content again are equal to content you have not played before. Since this is so ridiculous, the guys who put these arguments forward can now pick from three options for what they are:

1) Ignorant. You are clueless gamers that aren't even familiar with games that have sold in excess of 5m copies everytime. You are casual.

2) Idiots. You just don't know any better.

3) Trolls. You know what you are doing.

Yes, none of those three options are anything to be proud of, but that's what you get when you say something as intelligent as "If dogs really have brains, then why can't they talk?"

I guess some people just don't value the additional content, but then you have to wonder why they got the games to begin with. If you like Mario you'd want to play more than the absolute minimum required to beat the game, right? And if you don't like Mario you don't play Mario so the time needed to "beat" the game isn't really something you care about (unless you're after trolling material).

Is there even a storyline to this?

Saying a game is short but there's collectables or secrets to find for longer playtime, is exactly the same as saying a game is short but achievement/trophy hunting adds more playtime.

Just something to keep in mind.

unless thoe collectibles and secrets add something to the game. in alot of cases it doesnt

You mean rewards?

Because in many cases, it doesn't give you a little cookie when you succeed.

But if you're asking if those secrets add fun gameplay moments? Then yes, they do.

I know. Crazy shit, right? Adding fun and gameplay to a video game via challenges and secrets. Who would have thought?

This is what i have been referring to for the last couple of pages. Either you werent getting it or you were willfully ignoring it. Either way this is the argument you jumped into, hell it wasnt even an argument.

I was talking games in general and not Mario specifcally so i dont know why you felt the need to try to defend your precious series as if someone insulted your family.

Rolstoppable wasnt talking about me so i dont even know why you even brought him up...but i can guess.

Well if you got bored then it's obviously a good thing that the (main) game is over.
