Concerning your first point it is fact Wii U has lost money from the start. Second point... you really dont have one. Just because thats what niintendo wanted to do doesnt prove it wasnt a fluke

The subject was on Nintendo's standard business model, not one specific console.

Yeah, whatever, people like you can continue with your belief that the Wii was just a fad or fluke if that makes you feel better.

I'm not saying it is or it isn't. Thats not the point of the thread. I'm just pointing out that your wrong. I bet you every sports game each team goes in saying what they are and aren't ging to do. Do you think the better team wins every time? Obviously not. Hell, the Bucks beat the Heat last year once but then lost what 5 or 6 of the other games they had. The win was obviously a fluke

I guess any console that has sold well is a fluke.

Oh man, that's just sad.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

If thats what you take from that... then sure. lol

Wow surprising considering how well it has been doing in Europe comparatively.

It's the only thing that makes sense, or else you're a hypocrite.

So yes, that's the only thing to take from that.

Its not even possible they probably sold more than 10k in germany alone in the last 6 month.

actually Nintendo was selling 10k in europe each week i believe.

Better than 0... wait...

Another solid reason why Nintendo should go the way of third parties. People want Nintendo games, not Nintendo consoles. It's been like this since the N64.

And what would Nintendo gain from this, financially?

Uh, huge sales from the 80 million install base in current gen consoles such as PS3 and 360. The PS4 and Xbone will probably have the same at the end of the future gen cycle.

The same reason why COD sells worse on Nintendo-consoles apply to Nintendo going third-party on PS360 or PS4/X1. The consumer-base for Nintendo-games weren't developed on these consoles, so the games would sell horrible. Also Nintendo often connects their games tightly with the input-scheme they thought out for the console - they have new ways to play the games with the new input-scheme. With the other consoles it would become a 'same-old, same-old' for these games. A few franchises might go a bit better (I assume Zelda might go this way and Metroid), but most would sell a lot worse (especially Mario).

Also all you 'Nintendo needs to be 3rd-party'-types forget about the handhelds. Nintendo could drop the WiiU and survive on 3DS alone. Basically the result would be better, as they cut the losses on the WiiU. but it would send a bad signal to consumers, so I think Nintendo will simply try to live through one horrible gen with the WiiU and try to do better in the next.

my greatest games: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024

10 years greatest game event!

bets: [peak year] [+], [1], [2], [3], [4]

Good point @Mnementh

Just look at the sales of Banjo Nuts N Bolts and the Sega Sonic Racing games, they sell much better on Nintendo consoles the same way Animal Crossing, Kirby etc would.

Like @Mnementh said, MAYBE Zelda and Metroid would benefit.
