Forums - Gaming - David Jaffe Says "Nintendo Should Sell There Corp. Or Make Some New Shit."

David Jaffe ... and hiphopgamer in the same video? Think I'd rather throw acid in my eyes.

Complains about games taking the story telling route instead of focusing on game play. Picks on the company that does so.

I haven't watched the video. So i am saying this based on the thread title and other responses.

Edit: Watched the segment. What i said above.

Are you sure? Because he didn't pick on anything. He was asked a question about Nintendo. And his criticism had nothing to do with Nintendo focusing on gameplay. He said getting some new blood to revitalize their first party games would be a good way to improve Wii U's situation.

Maybe it was not that bad but the point is that he wants them to make new stuff but he then cites two games that he is looking forward to. Both are iterative instead of "new" stuff. I guess the marketing point was somewhat right. All companies can strive to do a good job there. One just needs to look at Audi and Apple. They sell their products on the strengths of marketing more than anything else.

I am sure how good Disney has been in sustaining some of their older franchises and mascots. They were down in the drain and putting B tier stuff before they acquired Pixar. Sure Pirates of Carribean rakes in a billion dollar each time but how many more of those can they make.

I guess there is something to learn from everyone.

A 2.5D Multiplayer console Mario game is hardly iterative, but okay. Anyway, the point I was making was that the criticism in your original post made no sense. I didn't say anything about marketing or the Disney thing so I'm not really sure why you're bringing that up.

I think Nintendo should stop forcing Mario, and Zelda franchise on everyone so much, and make a new super hero. Thats all I think they need to do.

Nintendo already did. Wonder Red.

Got to factor in that their audience is growing with the times.

Nintendo's audience is 8-18 year olds.  8-18 year olds will always be 8-18 years old.  once you turn 19 you can either still like Nintendo games, cause they won't change, or else you can move onto something else.

Why should Nintendo change their games?  You don't see saturday morning cartoons changing to try and keep their fans when they get older.  No they just stay the same and get the new kids that are growing up.  They don't care that some 13 year old doesn't like their tv show anymore.  100 million new kids just turned 3 and may potentially watch their show.

You think the 15+ million that buy pokemon each generation are the same who played Pokemon Red/Blue?  Hell no, its comprised of a shit ton of new 10 year olds buying the game.

With that analogy, Nintendo would just be saying, "Screw you +19 year olds, you either stay with us or get out" and gives their former audience the finger while they're at it.

I don't want Disney to buy Nintendo, but I would love to see them collaborate more. I want my Mario Pixar movie.

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games

Here a little quote I want for those to keep memorize in your head for this coming next gen.

Selling the company is a bit extreme, and the Nintendo fan in me would die if Disney bought them. Teaming up with Studio Ghibli would be more fitting.

But Nintendo definitely needs some new, fresh blood that's for sure. It's apparent that Nintendo's idea machine is malfunctioning and fixing it up with old parts won't do.

How are they saying screw you.  They are just making games they make.

It's not their fault that someone tastes change.  Some 19 year olds will still play and some wont.

Should I be pissed at Pampers cause when I switched off Diapers they didn't make underwear for me?  Should Pampers quit making diapers and go into the more mature underwear cause the baby's that wore their diapers grew up?  Or how about they continue to make diapers, something they are good at, improve those diapers and continue to sell them to new parents, a demographics that will never dissapear.

But no according to you, they should quit diapers, and make underwear, then in few years start making boxers cause your tastes changed again.  Then maybe start making S&M shit cause you became super mature and wanted some dark shit, then when your super old go back to making diapers again.  ALL FOR YOU, CAUSE YOUR THEIR SOLE AUDIENCE, AND YOU GREW UP.

jaffe, is a complete moron. nintendo is fine and i dont want them to change, because if they do. then they will not be the nintendo i like so much. and nintendo being a part of disney is saying u want nintendo to die, because that is what disney has done to anything video game related , within there own company.

First off all, I never said quit on anything. That is your biggest mistake there in assuming such thing.

Now for Nintendo, is it bad to cater to all age groups or just one? Think about that without the diapers analogy.

a badass colab. would be nintendo x google.

Nintendo Nexus.

Says the guy who has worked on damn near the same franchise for almost 20 years and is now working on an iPhone game.

Jaffe has worked on Twisted Metal, God of War, Calling all Cars, Kinetica, and even a Mickey Mouse game. And Jaffe isn't working on an iPhone game. He's not a part of Eat Sleep Play anymore because they wanted to go into iOS games. Get your facts straight before you start insulting someone.
