Forums - Gaming - David Jaffe Says "Nintendo Should Sell There Corp. Or Make Some New Shit."

In all honesty yeah. Nintendo are arrogant as hell. People accuse Sony of that last gen. But Nintendo have been more so forever. The blatant crap that is Wii U is proof of Nintendo just not listening. Devs didnt want it. They dont want to build for it and Nintendo wasted all the dev time and cost on the controller. Why not put it into better visuals for the system? Hell Microsoft managed to do both.

So Ninty there is no excuse. I used to game and love you until you left gamers like me hanging. Nintendo used to be the guarenteed place to go for the best in console visuals and powerful hardware. I liked that. They went down a different path. One I couldnt follow.

Hilarious to see someone wearing the XBox Banner as showy as you calling Nintendo arrogant  and the WiiU crap. Let´s not look at MS on the arrogant scale, shall we. Nintendo was always pretty humble, especially compared to PS3- Sony and pre 180 MS.

Oh the irony...oh and that was pretty low !

I take it he hasn't played any of Nintendo's new shit.

Key word.  I liked it before it started smelling...

Who is David Jaffe? Well nevermind I dont know him so his opinion does not matter its like the Atari guy telling Nintendo what to do when Atari is the company constantly going the way of the dodo.

If this would be a statment by Miyamoto I would think about it but not some random 2-3 or so IP director.

David Jaffe should make a better Twisted Metal game, get Kinetica 2 goong, or shut the fuck up.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

You understand little about real Nintendo fans, then. We're a highly critical lot on the whole, just that we're largely in agreement about what the acceptable Nintendo critiques are, and what the unacceptable ones are. The ones who always say "Nintendo should do X, it would be so simple" are usually the faux-fans we're speaking of, when the rest of us have a clearer idea of the way things should be.

Oh god. Stop with the No True Scotsman nonsense. A real fan of Nintendo is just that, someone who likes Nintendo/their products. You don't have to abide by some set standard of criticism towards Nintendo in order to be a fan of them.

I suppose you think you get to determine that I, for example, am not a Nintendo fan, despite buying all of their consoles and the Gamecube being my favorite console of all time, because my criticism doesn't fall under your arbitrary criteria.

And "Nintendo should do X" is an unacceptable criticism? That statement, mixed with the dozens of defensive posts in here, is very telling.

Yes, highly critical indeed.

Someone else browses TVTropes . You gots a handle?

I'll admit that it is disingenuous of me to try and seperate out "true" Nintendo fans, but you can observe many common threads amongst the Nintendo community on this site, while we are still individualistic on several matters, the group that generally rallies behind Nintendo in defending against the FUD-spreaders and others tend to be highly critical of Nintendo because they have a stronger understanding of why Nintendo has succeeded in the past. Those with this understanding are the "true" fans, because they're the ones who want Nintendo to be Nintendo, rather than wishing Nintendo were something else, which is often the case with the "I'm a Nintendo fan, but i hate that they do Y, they should do X. That would make them popular with mature gamers like me."

Not sure what that is. I'm guessing I said something to suggest the contrary?

Anyhow, your argument is outrageously reliant on anecdotal evidence. There isn't even anything to address because that's all it is.

As for the bolded, there is nothing inherently wrong with wanting more mature content (whatever that's supposed to mean), and that certainly doesn't indicate that the person asking for said content isn't a fan of Nintendo or their content as it already stands. It only shows that they think it would make the content more enjoyable to them. You're redefining words to mean what you want, in an attempt to exclude criticism that you don't agree with from being considered legitimate. There is no such thing as a "true fan," but even if their were, you certainly aren't qualified to make that judgment, nor is anyone else.

Sorry, but no self respecting Nintendo fan would ever say they should sell themselves to any other company.

And David Jaffe is one to talk about originality and doing the same thing over and over, considering most of what he's done his entire career falls square in either the Twisted Metal or God of War franchises.

Nice try though, I suppose.
