Would anyone agree with me that tablet gaming is having a (profound) effect on traditional console gaming, and hence the lower sales of new hardware (Wii U so far)?.

I know a lot of people my age don't have as much time for traditoinal gaming due to work/life and so on, so they are 'casual' gaming on tablets, where they switch on, do a few swipes on the screen and then close the app.

I would say it is having an effect on younger demographics, which is nintendos bread and butter, but I wouldnt say it is having a huge impact on gaming as a whole.

I have no idea at that point. Can go either way. Although Idoubt it will be as bad as for WiiU and Vita.

I need to remind you we are talking about ps4 and xone.

So in that case, We can expect Wii U to not be as successful as Wii since we are talking about Wii U.

I couldn't find logic in your post. anyway, the sentence you may be failing to understand is: we can't use previous consoles to argue about future consoles success.

this is why i said everyone can expect Wii U to not be as successful as Wii, since what happen to that console may or may not replicate in Wii U but since we are talking about Wii U, i think that rule in bolded don't apply to it cause i'm very sure you are hoping Wii U to be a huge sucess thanks to his predeccesor and that my friend, is using previous console history to argue about future consoles sucess. Now, don't tell me you're not using Wii sucess to predict about wii U numbers cause that would be hilarious at best, that would mean you're reaching to conclusion based on nothing at all.

There's nothing wrong to use history to predict about future console sucess, even analyst do it.  Besides nintendo fans do it everytime they want to prove that a huge nintendo franchise isn't declining like pokemon for example.  Stop using argument based on convenience.

I'm pretty sure I've been saying wii u's success will come from itself, not it's predecessor. like every videogame ever.

I think both will suffer but not to the degree of the wii u. This is the first gen I and most of my friends won't be upgrading at launch. The economy still sucks and unless my kids are begging for an upgrade I'll probably wait till next fall at the earliest. We have the wii u, ps3 and 360 to keep us busy for awhile.

I think sales will slow quite a bit but not as bad as the Wii u.and I see sales improving for both ifrom middle of the year onwards. Plus of course the ps4 will have the Japan launch early next year which should see sales boost.

Neither will suffer. Full third party support, indie development and even 1080P 60fps rehashes will help them until the big titles come out past the summer.

I've been gaming for a really long time and I have NEVER seen so many viable consoles on the market at once. I actually think things are going to be rough for everyone as gamersrs choose between the three new consoles and the 7th gen HD Twins. So, yeah, I think the PS4 and X1 are in for a rough time next year.

Can i make a double vote?

Options 3 and 5 are the most accurate to my knowledge.

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!
