LOL...No. Platinum Games is kind of like a revival of old Capcom and Sega glory, which means incredibly niche but great experiences almost exclusvely for the core gamer. Rare was western gaming at its most creative. The closest company to having the creativity of creating new IP's on a level of Rare is Naughty Dog. I probably shouldn't be giving them that much credit but they keep putting out hit after hit. It's like everything they create turns to gold, much like Rare.

Yeah, why WOULD they want one of the most talented Japanese developers making games exclusively for their consoles? How stupid, right?

Because their games don't sell.
Looking at the amount of post in this thread, one imagine their games selling a lot.

Viewtiful Joe, Okami, MadWorld, Bayonetta, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengence would all like to have words with you on that "don't sell" front.

Because Nintendo can't put Platinum on one of their big IPs that would sell? Yeah, that would be as crazy as trusting good ol' Metroid and Donkey Kong to a Western developer or something...

I would have said the same thing before the idiocy that was the Bayonetta 2 exclusivity meltdown.

That western developer has always been a NIntendo developer.

How does that affect sales? People didn't buy Metroid Prime just cos Retro were owned by Nintendo.
