Forums - Nintendo - Platinum is considering being a Second Party for Nintendo.

Platinum has only made one truly good game, and they weren't even Platinum them. Vanquish is good, but the game kept dragging on and on, I got bored of it and never completed it. Other third person shooters I'm more interested in.

God Hand, though. That's the only game from them I've really loved. Every other game has been pretty meh in my opinion.  Extremely overrated developed.

really...i thought it was just me

let them make STAR FOX!!!!

I could tell that was the case. They even put kamiya up in nintendo direct.

Platinum would get financial stability and Nintendo would get a quality developer.

You're replying to the Vanquish comment right?

Like, Vanquish is more fluid and is technically the better shooter when compared to most games, but the problem is, is that's all it does well.  There's nothing holding Vanquish together other than the constant barrage of bullets.  You go to one large room, finish enemies off, then go to the next.  Other than God Hand, that's one thing I don't like about any of Platinum Games' games.  They're all flash, no substance.  I own both Viewtiful Joe g ames, just haven't played them, but all the other games of theirs I've played, including the Bayonetta demo(just didn't sit right with me, so I never bothered with it.)

Japanese devs have a boner for making successful games and franchises on PlayStation/Xbox and then switching over to Nintendo to watch them all die, game by game

Star Fox fans aren't quite as fussy as Metroid fans I don't think.

Mario/Metroid/Zelda are the three Nintendo IP where you really have to be careful what you change and why.

Star Fox has more leeway, but as long as Platinum would be smart enough to keep the action in the aircraft and not stray towards land based missions, I think they'd be fine.

If not Star Fox I think Kid Icarus with Sakurai overseeing wouldn't be bad for Platinum, though sadly I think Nintendo is going to cut bait.

I find it sad that some Nintendo only want Platinum to work on old Nintendo IPs instead.

Platinum could (maybe even should) be used as a "concept factory" to produce new IPs and games. Their members are talented and creative, something proven with the games they have created being Platinum and Clover, that would be perfect for that task. Sure, 2/3 of those games would flop, but even then they still would make some small hits that in the long term would greatly benefit Nintendo.

Yes, they should make them a 2nd party. Platinum games is not known for making games that *sell* but they have the expertise and craft to make good selling games if Nintendo guides them.

Nintendo needs more development resources, especially with HD development not going as smooth as they were hoping for. They won't be able to afford another Wii U in generation 9. They have to prepare themselves for sustaining a successful console without significant 3rd party support. Platinum would be a good start.
