Japanese devs have a boner for making successful games and franchises on PlayStation/Xbox and then switching over to Nintendo to watch them all die, game by game

I'd like to see this "list" of yours.

I didnt mention any ''list''

Because their games don't sell.

Viewtiful Joe, Okami, MadWorld, Bayonetta, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengence would all like to have words with you on that "don't sell" front.

Madworld and bayonetta bombed so as far as that goes you support his case with those. Rising has the luxuary of having metal gear in its title to increase sales and i dont know about the other two

You are now officially my favourite new member on this site

Anarchy Reigns is not a sequel to madworld it's a spin off that has Jack in it.

Such as?

Off the top of my head, I suppose Dragon Quest X could qualify, (though an as MMO it was likely be financially successful) but on the other hand, Monster Hunter did better on Wii than PS2.

Resident Evil on top of my head. Compare the sales on Nintendo platforms and PS platforms

Resident Evil didn't die on Nintendo systems though, it did well on both Gamecube and Wii. What killed it was RE6; a PS3/360 game.

Not to mention, Resident Evil Revelation sold well on the 3DS digitally and retail.

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games

Here a little quote I want for those to keep memorize in your head for this coming next gen.

Platinum has only made one truly good game, and they weren't even Platinum them. Vanquish is good, but the game kept dragging on and on, I got bored of it and never completed it. Other third person shooters I'm more interested in.

God Hand, though. That's the only game from them I've really loved. Every other game has been pretty meh in my opinion.  Extremely overrated developed.

really...i thought it was just me

You're replying to the Vanquish comment right?

Like, Vanquish is more fluid and is technically the better shooter when compared to most games, but the problem is, is that's all it does well.  There's nothing holding Vanquish together other than the constant barrage of bullets.  You go to one large room, finish enemies off, then go to the next.  Other than God Hand, that's one thing I don't like about any of Platinum Games' games.  They're all flash, no substance.  I own both Viewtiful Joe g ames, just haven't played them, but all the other games of theirs I've played, including the Bayonetta demo(just didn't sit right with me, so I never bothered with it.)

im replying to the whole thing, i too think they are overrated, for the same reasons you said. The games they make arent bad, but their is not meat to them. Probably why they have such a small audience and i mean small. internet forum goers, like to blow them up like they have a Naughty Dog pedigree. WHen a Platinum game does those kinds of numbers then ill believe the hype.

I find it sad that some Nintendo only want Platinum to work on old Nintendo IPs instead.

Platinum could (maybe even should) be used as a "concept factory" to produce new IPs and games. Their members are talented and creative, something proven with the games they have created being Platinum and Clover, that would be perfect for that task. Sure, 2/3 of those games would flop, but even then they still would make some small hits that in the long term would greatly benefit Nintendo.

maybe they do want to play the same old franchises over and over again.
