I tend to agree with you OP. I think the OP means the franchise is creatively bankrupt (or dead) but sales are still strong because of brand equity. If it didn't have the past pedigree they wouldn't move even 100,000 units. Same thing with Resident Evil, it's pretty much dead to me but I still keep playing it because of fan feelings for the roots.

The last one I played was FFX, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I intend on getting it and X-2 on the Vita when they release. I skipped XII since I was outside of the US at that point and it was hard to source at the time. I have not tried XIII and XIII 2, but I intend to give them a shot before or around the time the final chapter drops. I will judge for myself, but from what I gathered it seems like XIII 2 isn't bad while XIII is the more flawed game of the two.

I think the editor of the article actually meant "Pile of crap." Because "dead" would mean that Square Enix cared enough to stop producing Final Fantasy games, and people stopped buying them. (Which is not happening.)

Personally, I kind of liked FFXIII. FFXIII-2 looks better, but I haven't fully played it yet. FF Lightning Returns is too much milk for me.

People are all hoping that FFXV is going to be the savior of FF.

Can already see it's going to disappoint.

It doesn't matter if it's the best game of all time. There will be people who are disappointed and will continue to write stupid articles like the one above.

Oh my God. Talking about breast and giving players choice over the physical appearance of a character is horrible.
I will never buy a game like that !

And how is it a bad thing for the customer ? It's a feature. Changing a character outfit has never been a game broker, as far as I know.

The series is not dead, it sells great. The series has become crap is what the article means. That is highly subjective though.
