Specs =/= lack of creativity. My point about the Wii is that despite the low specs developers still got lazy on that platform.

Yes, there are lazy dev's on every console. But a lack of specs doesn't hinder you at all in game developing, it motivates you to work around certain problems and while doing it maybe even giving you new ideas. Like in real life. If everything works perfectly everytime you will never look into how to change things.
Nice change in pace from devs saying they were storage and memory limited from day one. This is an issue that should results in very nice improvements throughout the generation.
Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

I'm pretty sure the guys working on Star Citizen would disagree with you considering the specs they need to make that game happen and it is certainly an ambitious game. Lack of specs can stifle your vision and force you to leave out what would have been awesome features or functions in the game. That doesn't mean the game is better because of it. That's an excuse often made by those who support a platform that is on the low end of hardware. Great games can be made both ways. These developers will also hit those ceilings at some point anyways. Then will you still make the excuse that these guys have been given too much to work with? Why did Nintendo bother to create a new console with greater specs than the Wii? Should they not have just aimed to continue to make these creative games on an aging console? Because surely increasing the specs will just lead to them becoming lazy.

Putting an entire open world game in memory is not lazy, it's smart. If you can do it, it should definitely be done. Memory management in open world games is an insanely difficult task.

so, his game which has to run on only some hundred mb on current gen consoles doesn't need all the ram on next gen? i think they should rather ask developers who make next gen only games. some of them would probably already complain in a year or two if they would have only 4gb.
| Th3PANO said: So much memory will make developers lazy. Just look at that Indy game that uses 5 GB of RAM already. |
Well, there have always been good and bad programmers, just see the difference in minimum specs between a doujin game and a western indie game.
Most doujin games run on a pentium 3 / 512 mb DDR2 ram / 10 years old graphic card computer

That's the point... put everything in the RAM is the best world and not lazy... you don't need to make cache or priority constant load from the Disc/HDD.
If you can already put most part of the game on RAM then you have better load times, less screen tearing and less disc/hdd reads.
That's optimizations and not lazy.

Where did I say that nobody will use the RAM on PS4? I just said that the specs from the Wii are no excuse for not making a good game.

You complained that having all of these resources will make developers lazy because they won't have to figure out how to squeeze things in or approach things differently. The point myself and a couple others were making by pointing out that sooner or later they would tap it all is that eventually they will find themselves in such a position even with that many resources to work with. So complaining about them not maxing out and having to find clever work arounds for the time being is really just complaining for the sake of complaining. Because even with the ceiling being given to them on the PS4 and XOne, at some point in the future it's not going to be enough for what they need. Just like the Wii U is already for many developers.
As for the Wii, it all just seems to be going over your head. You complained that an abundance of system resources will cause developers to be lazy. So I pointed to a system that seriously lacks system resources even during its prime and that obviously some developers were lazy on that platform as well. It apparently did not take a lot of system resources for developers to decide they didn't want to try. Point being that with an abundance of resources or a lack of them, it doesn't matter. A lazy developer will be a lazy developer.
