Forums - Movies & TV - Why did you skip "After Earth", with the greatest Black actor of all time in it, Will Smith.

WOAH WOAH WOAH!!! though Will Smith is a fantastic actor; like many people have said Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman are defintely above Will Smith; hell maybe even Samuel L. Jackson and Don Cheadel are alittle above above Will Smith

I didn't skip...more's the pity. I will never get that time back.

As for Will Smith being the greatest black actor of all time, he is barely the best actor in the Smith family! What he does have, in abundance, is charisma and likeability. Those traits do not a great actor make. He is an adequate actor, no more. There are numerous better black actors, including, but not limited to Don Cheadle, Denzel Washington, Sidney Poitier, Morgan Freeman, Laurence Fishbourne, Forrest Whitaker, Jamie Foxx et al.

Another one I missed. My brain's not on call tonight.

The movie it self was not really great, the spacing of the movie was problematic. And They have a weird want of showing only baby animal rip appart.

The concept was ok, but the story and the intepretation was lacking of subtence.

And I saw no Morgan Freeman in the movie.

Can't stand the kid

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Does his kid need to be in so many movies with him? Karate kid was ok since it had jackie chan and pursuit of happiness was fantastic. He seems to be in tons of movies with Wii Smith now a days. Anyways the movie didn't seem all that good and something about it being pretty much a movie on scientology.

Mr Washington is currently imho the best black actor around. His range of films is just awesome, even if there are some duds (really didn't like Flight). He's just such a good actor. Not saying Will Smith isn't, just doesn't seem to have a good range.

As for this film, well the premise sounded ok, but not that interested in watching a kid do all the saving. Need action movie with adults. Also the cinema is an expensive business, if i go with my family we are looking at £20 for tickets perhaps and then another £20+ for food. So for a few hours entertainment if a film is getting panned, not worth investing that kind of money in it.

Even if i ignore the food bill, It's just cheaper to buy the film on Blu Ray, at £13 a film it ends up being a lot cheaper than going to the cinema.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

My sister saw it and said it was bad. I dislike his son too. Therefore no dice.

Also, morgan freeman and denzel are much better actors. Will did ok though, but his son ruins the movie.

Pisses me off that Will is passing up on Independence day 2/3. His attitude towards money is what makes me dislike him. This was the movie that made him a household movie star name.

The movie looks generic and boring. Will Smith and Jaden Smith no thanks, what is next his daughter will be singing the movies cover song.

Most importantly Will Smith is no where near the best black actor ever.

Denzel is significantly better, Training Day, Man on Fire, Flight, American Gangster, Remember the Titans, He go Game, Glory, Crimson Tide, and others makes a pretty impressive resume.

Morgan Freeman though is arguably the best black actor ever. Seven, Shawshank Redemption, Nolan Batman Trilogy, Wanted, Million Dollar Baby, Amistad, Unforgiven, Robin Hood, Glory and more he is a legend plus he has been in action movies, dramas, and comedies and dominated the screen in all.

Will Smith has nothing that comes close to Training Day or Shawshank Redemption.
