Forums - Movies & TV - Why did you skip "After Earth", with the greatest Black actor of all time in it, Will Smith.

In short, because M Night hasn't made a good movie in a decade. The Happening was NOT decent. You are literally the first person I've ever heard call it anything but terrible.

Will Smith agreed to be in this, because it was to be a vehicle for his son. it wasn't a 'Will Smith movie".

Oh, and as for child actors, the gold standard was Haley Joel Osment, someone who's acting really helped propel the Sixth Sense, and M Night career

I thought the Gold Standard was Drew Barrymore personally.

And like what other people have said, this move is just a launching pad for his son,  who is terrible at acting.

As for best black actor,  gotta go with James Earl Jones or Morgan Freeman.

Why don't you go watch "Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai", "In the Heat of the Night" and "Silver Streak" instead of asking us why we haven't watched an obvious superstar-and-his-kid-playing-his-kid-vehicle?

Two of those movies have better black actors, the third actor was a better comedian than Smith, all three movies are certainly far better and entertaining than After Earth.

I'm hoping you watched all these movies in their original english  voice track I doubt any German voice actors could match the voices of Forrest Whitaker, Sindey Poiter and Richard Pryor.  Plus with Silver Streak a lot of the humour probably gets lost in translation.

M. Night Shyamalan made a new movie? Cool, he is one of my favorite directors. At least in the past. He made a few stinkers lately.

I'm not a huge fan of Will Smith but he's growing by the year. He was great in The Pursuit of Happyness.

Didn't look appealing.

I almost never go to theatres, but I might see it later.

At no point during the trailer did I see Will Smith say "Aww HELL, naw!". Killed any excitement I had for the movie.

So you didnt like Seven Pounds or Pursuit of Happiness?

I skipped it because it looked super bollocks. Then the reviews came and said it was worse than super bollocks. So bad the words Shitbag wankathon of fucktits awfull poo excuse of a film seem to describe it.

Denzel has played a wider variety of characters then Will Smith especially since he never was in any sequels and probably never will appear in any sequels.  Will Smith will mostly be know for sequels by the time he stops acting.

How much comedy have you seen Denzel in lately? Look at all of his movies back to back, he has one major acting style that hes known for and thats being a no nonsense badass.

Well he is still a better actor then Will Smith not to mention that most of his movies that he has been in are a lot better then the movies Will Smith has been in.  Also I totally forgot to mention Keith Davis not only is he a better actor then Will Smith he is also a better voice actor and Platoon and The Thing are miles better then any movie Will Smith appeared in.

What exactly makes him a better actor? To me a great actor is a man who can wear many faces.

Tagging!

Also, i did not know that M Night made the Sixth Sense. That movie was better than the Village from what i remember
