Forums - Movies & TV - Why did you skip "After Earth", with the greatest Black actor of all time in it, Will Smith.

Will Smith and his son can't act for shit also, Morgan Freeman greatest Black actor of all time.

With his son being introduced in this movie, it felt as if it was just a family monopoly trying to make a buck.

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

Skyrim 100%'d. Dark Souls 100%'d.
Dark Souls > Skyrim.
Halo 4 is the best damn FPS since Halo 3.

Morgan Freeman? The guy who plays the exact same role in every movie he's in? He's got an iconic voice, and one hell of an "aura" abut him, but that's about it. Will Smith at least has some diversity.

I didn't watch it because of the guy who was directing it. Shyamalan directed the Last Airbender...nuff said.

I really like Will Smith, but I'm afraid he's not close to being the greatest African-American actor of all time. Sidney Poitier or Denzel Washington probably control that title. Forest Whitaker and Morgan Freeman would also surpass Smith.

As for why I skipped the movie, the trailers made the movie look bad and the critical consensus agreed. Plus Shyamalan has become a total liability. It's crazy to say that when 14 years earlier people were saying he was the next Spielberg.

Anyway, this has been a pretty lousy summer for movies.

I enjoyed the movie. It is quite good. Just ignore the critics and you will have a great time with it.

Also I dont care about the skin color of people. He could have been purple with yellow sparkles and I would have still watched the movie.

Shame on me for forgetting about Sidney!

I'd probably put Denzel before WIll (he's still very good). However, I don't think After Earth was as bad as the critics made it seem. I read that part of the problem critics had was that Will was in a restrained role, but Will works great with emotion. So maybe that worked against him. Also, I would have liked to see more of Earth, I thought the movie could have done some bigger things.
