Why do people keep saying the Wii U version came out a month late?  The Wii U came out in NA six days after Black Ops 2 launched.  Even if you discard that week and only start counting on the next week when it released in Europe, there have been 9.3 million sales across the PS3 and 360 since the Wii U launched.  Add another ~2.5 million if we're counting from the NA launch.

I don't know where people are getting this idea that everybody who wanted BO2 bought it before the Wii U came out.  Hell, in the last two weeks the PS3/360 versions have sold 184k.  The Wii U version has done 186k since launch.  Now I'm not saying the Wii U version was expected to sell anywhere close to the PS3/360 versions, but the idea that the market was tapped out before the Wii U launched is ridiculous.

thats my fault, i though it was a month late. but either way thank you! I think people are just making excuses for the under performance of the game on WIi U.

we are talking about a game that released to 0 install base. even if the Wii U released to conicide with the day blops2 dropped it would have made little difference because people werent going to buy a whole new console to play a game for a system they already owned.

Many wouldn't have, but there would be some gamers who wanted a Wii U but also wanted to buy COD right away to keep up with all their COD-playing friends.

no, they would buy the game on the systems their friends have to play COD if they wanted to keep up, that system isnt Wii U

Most would, not all. BO2 sold 11 million week 1, it's just not realistic to say that there's no overlap with the 400,000 who bought a Wii week one.

the overlap is very small. BO2 sold 11 million first week. BO2 hasnt even sold 250000 copies to DATE. if that is not small overlap i dont know what is.

Missing out on such a big opening is significant. The current overlap is small becaue there WAS in fact no overlap, the game was late.

id agree with that, had it not been on WIi U a system that had NO install base. It would not have mattered if it came out the same time as the others, becaue most people would have bought it on those systems anyway.

You just don't get it.

CoD during opening week would have pushed hardware, because people want the game, and it is the most feature-rich version. Also, the people who bought Wii U for other games (the enthusiasts, who got Wii U day one) would probably have bought it for their new exciting system.

Either way, it would have done better had it not been late. And had it had a head start, it would have done phenomenally well. I am speaking in terms of attach rate, of course.

No COD was not going to push hardware, it doesnt even push hardware for the cheaper systems. It wont do it for a more expensive one, not when there are CHEAPER alternatives. Most COD players dont give a damn if its feature rich or not, they are playing the version that there friends are playing, that wont be the WII U version. Attach rate, maybe. I dont think most care especially Activision care about attach rate. They want to see their game sell and they are not seeing that on the system.

You have no idea what you're talking about. CoD is the series that saved the HD twins.

you sure about that? and even if that was true, what does that have to do with WIi U? You think a 6 day difference would have really changed the sales for the WIi U version? If so then you are the one that is lost.

Of course it would have mattered. It wouldn't have changed 200k sales into 10 million, but it definitely would have made a difference with a game as big one week one as COD if Wii U had been available at the same time.

actually i was wrong it was a six day difference, which makes it WORSE. YOu think a 6 day difference would have changed anything?

Go back and look at the release of, say MW2 when Kotick wanted it to be "the biggest entertainement release ever". It turned things around for the HD systems.

so HDs wouldnt be around without COD? Yeah, gotta any proof of that? Kotick could say what he wants. Still you ignore what that has to do with Wii U and its COD game, especially since there was less than a week difference in release.

When your game sells 11 million week 1, that week makes a massive difference.

Nobody buys consoles for CoD? You'd have to be crazy to think that...

Call of Duty: Ghosts will release on Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and PC on November 5. Call of Duty: Ghosts will also release on the Xbox One, the all-in one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, and PlayStation® 4 later this year.

They also didn't mention that Black Ops 1 and 2 and Modern Warfare 3 would come to Wii/Wii U in early-mid 2010/2011/2012, but they did.

how much consoles were out in the wild for those 11 million copies to sell first week? How much Wii Us were in the wild first week? THey havent even sold 11 million Wii Us
