Forums - Gaming - Did Sony make a mistake by bringing GT6, TLoU, GoW:A and Beyond to PS3, and not PS4 this year?

Should Sony have brought 2013's exclusives to PS4 instead of PS3?

Yes, PS4 needs them to compete with Xbone. 21 9.29%

Maybe, should have split ... 48 21.24%

No, it was smarter releasing them on PS3. 136 60.18%

I don't know. 9 3.98%

I want to see the results. 12 5.31%

Total:226

Gran Turismo would have been a good early life (not necessarily launch) game for the PS4, but there wasn't really any sense in stacking the PS4's line up this year since there will already be more demand than supply.

Are you sure about that? Is that the general concensus that the PS4 will be supply constrained this holiday?

I wouldn't call it a mistake so much as an alternate strategy. Sony seems to want to make the PS3 have long legs ala PS2, selling maybe 100 million lifetime. These games will push PS3 sales to a healthy number through 2014 at least. I wonder what else Sony has planned for the PS3. Maybe a 500 GB download only model ala PSP Go?

Well, that's what we've heard from people at Sony based on preorder numbers. It's not hard for a new console to go through its first shipments. And unless they've had a change of heart since the Xbox 180, Gamestop told Sony they will buy every single PS4 they can manufacture, so it sounds like they may still be pushing the PS4 over the Xbone.

TLOU and GOW:A are both million sellers. From what I remember Sony did say GT6 will be ported to the PS4. So the only thing we need to look out for is B2S, which I think will do well.

PD said a PS4 version of GT will be release in the future... if GT6 will be ported or not I don't know but I guess they are talking about GT7.

Ahh I see. I thought they meant to port GT6. Yes it could be GT7 they are talking about.

or they could do GT6 "Epilogue". L0l!

Maybe not all of them, but at the very least one of the ones you mentioned.

Right now they have zero huge exclusives. Most people are talking about Titanfall when they could have been talking about Beyond or The Last of Us. Sure, they wouldn't have sold as well as on ps3, but they would sell a ton of hardware and the ps4 would gain momentum. At this point it's still looking better than xbone, but not by much. Part of the reason that 360 was such a success (IMO) is that it managed to build a good install base, so most teenagers would get a 360 to game on the same console as their friends. Peer pressure is huge around such ages.

No. One great thing about Sony is how long they keep supporting their old hardware once new is launched. There will be plenty of games for PS4 in all genres.

Sony is banking on the Playstation brand name similar to the PS3 launch. However unlike the PS3 they have a better price this time around. They're pushing Killzone as one of the major launch titles like the PS3 did. Also Sony has always had a GT come out on their previous system right before their next gen system launched. The last was GT4 and people had similar complaints.

I will say I think that last GOW game should've been on the Vita to show some solidarity. It would show Sony is doing it's best to support all three platforms with big games.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

There's 140 games coming to the PS4, games is not a issue. Sony has a history of supporting their hardware even as new ones comes in.

I think PD is done with prologue versions, they most likely will release GT7 in 2015.

Unless it's the PSP.
