Should Sony have brought 2013's exclusives to PS4 instead of PS3?

Yes, PS4 needs them to compete with Xbone. 21 9.29%

Maybe, should have split ... 48 21.24%

No, it was smarter releasing them on PS3. 136 60.18%

I don't know. 9 3.98%

I want to see the results. 12 5.31%

Total:226

Oh right. Didn't realize they had been working on it for 2 years. Still, they should have at least made a PS4 version.

They started to work in a PS4 version of GT in early 2012 when they received the PS4 devkit... I'm sure they will release it in late 2014 or 2015.

"They should have a GT game for launch on PS4"... it's not work that way because you need time to do that.

PS4 never denied a GT game for PS4... they always said that they are working in a GT for PS4.

Yes and no. Yes because they would have got many people to buy the PS4 day 1. No because they would not have been able to sell as many with a low install base.

GT games sells even in low install base... GT3 was launched with a less than 10 million install base and it is the best selling GT ever.

The choose for GT6 in PS3 is just development time... the GT for PS4 (already in development at almost one year) will be ready only in late 2014 or 2015... not before that.

Even if they not release GT6 for PS3... the game for PS4 won't be ready for launch or even for the first year.

I look at GT going to PS4 this way: Let's *pretend* GT6 would be possible for launch/1st year. Out of the approx. 10 million installed base (taking from GT5 numbers), how many of those are the HARDCORE GT fans that would undoubtedly buy a PS4 in its 1st year *especially* for GT6? 2 million? 5 million? I think you can have some good approximation of that hardcore fanbase looking at Nissan GT Academy 2012 players. I know around 1 million people downloaded and play Nissan Academy 2012. It was free, you didn't have to own GT5 to play it, but still, who calls himself a hardcore GT player and didn't play the Nissan GT Academy? But I know what you're thinking, it can't be the only measure because not even all hardcore GT fans care about the Academy. Still, I'd say there aren't more than 2 million really, REALLY hardcore GT fans, and then you would need to consider how many of them will have at least USD460 reserved for a PS4 and GT6. Of course there will be a couple (maybe) millions more who, maybe not as hardcore, but definitely fans or very interested in GT that would definitely pick up a PS4 in its first year mainly because of the presence of GT6 in its library.

I'll get to my point now. Whatever number of fans willing to pick up a PS4 for GT Sony already has in the bag. They will buy a PS4 at launch or whenever a GT game launches. It doesn't matter if they sell those many PS4 more in the first year or if they sell a good amount of them later in the lifecycle (2015 maybe), they're still selling them in the end to these group of loyal GT fans. PS4 will have more than enough great games to push hardware in its first year, especially at launch when many adopters buy the system no matter what, and at $399.99 makes it even easier for them and even prone to shortages.

@Ethomaz I really hope GT6 does well, but I feel like it's gonna get overshadowed at that time period. I know it has the ps3's install base to its advantage, but how positive are you it's gonna be as successful as others in the series? How are pre-orders? I feel like GT6 would have been safer coming out in 2015 on ps4.

I understand that and I agree.

But you have a game ready for PS3... and the development for the PS4 version will finish in 2015.

That's the point... you will never have a GT game for PS4 launch... even if the GT6 for PS3 didn't exists you will need to wait until 2015 to see a GT on PS4.

There is no magical that make a GT game in one year.

I never saw preorder for GT games and they always did well... the first impressions are good, really good... at the point that some "editors" in big websites thinks that it can ofuscate the others racing games to be released in terms of feature set.

And why not a GT6 this year for PS3 and GT5 in 2015 for PS4? Haaaaa and GT7: Prologue next year.

GT6 is done, ready to launch... why not launch it? Wait until 2015 for what?

Remeber... every even GT number (2, 4 and now 6) are released close to the next console release.

Gran Turismo would have been a good early life (not necessarily launch) game for the PS4, but there wasn't really any sense in stacking the PS4's line up this year since there will already be more demand than supply.

I was saying they should have either made GT6 earlier or waited until after the ps4 launch. And I know the current gen games still sell very well even with next gen around the corner, but I'm more worried about how the holiday season release will affect GT6.

@Figgycal

I checked the Amazon.com site only and GT6 is the 81st best selling item in videogames right now... US is not the strongest GT region... so I think France, Germany, UK and other EU countries should have better preorders numbers.

It will be fine... almost every GT5 owner will buy GT6

Because they alredy have the equipment (wheel, etc).

Don't care, gt6 should've been a launch ps4 title, not driveclub. I wouldn't have wanted to wait for tlou though, games already amazing enough, not sure what the ps4 would've done to improve a game of this caliber, gow would've made sense as a launch ps4 title as well, though a numbered entry would've made much more sense.
