Forums - Nintendo - Why does it seem that to be accepted by the Nintendo community, you need to be a hard core fan?

I've often wondered the same thing. I get attacked whenever I criticize any of the big 3, but it seems like, in my experience, Nintendo fans are the only ones who instantly label me as a hater and have difficulty accepting any criticism at all. I guess it just shows a lot of dedication?

We just don't like you insulting our religion.

I'm sorry. I'm such a pretendo!

We definitely defend it against the haters, but I have often been open about criticizing the company.

The only time I defend Nintendo against a Nintendo fan is if I feel like it's just whining with no reason.

Fanboys from all three console makers would do this. If you don't praise their company, prepare the flame shield.

I really don't care if I criticize one company or another, because I am not a drone and actually enjoy games from a variety of systems and I couldn't care less about the console war.

Pretty much this. If you're not a pom-pom waving cheerleader, you are going to hear it from over-zealous brand warriors.

i'm a "hardcore" nintendo fan, and i accept you.

Nintendo, just as the other two console makers, are big tents. Come one, come all. Each of the three consoles have games that appeal to you, whether you want to admit it to yourself or not. There are platformers and adventure games on PS3, there are good JRPG's on 360, and there are FPS's and sports titles on Wii U.

Deal with it. It's one thing to be a fanboy, but it's quite another thing for people to be blindly supportive and unwilling to accept reality.

This isn't directed at the OP, but to ignorance in general.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

I don't know about that, just never, ever say that you really like a particular Nintendo game and would like to play it on another console. People will lose their minds. It's the equivalent of accepting a business card from a Japanese person using only one hand; you might as well just pee on their cat, it's the same degree of insult.

Obviously about me.  Even though the issue wasn't about Nintendo, this would have been the same regardless of system.

I'm constantly criticizing Nintendo's decisions, and I haven't noticed any fan hatred towards me.

Yes, yes you are.  Don't hate you for it.  I do what I do for anything that I know something about.  Sometimes I just do it for the argument.

Yeah, discussion in itself can be fun. I like finding out how other people see things, it's why I create so many poll threads. XD
