Not true at all, OP.

I'm a huge, massive Nintendo fan.  I exclusively played Nintendo games from 5 years old, and didn't get a non-Nintendo system until PS2, and even then, I used GameCube more.

I'm as fanboy as they come, and fiercely loyal to Nintendo, but I constantly criticize them.  It's what you do when you love a company and grew up with it.  You want it to be as successful as possible, so that the company can continue to make the kinds of games that make you happy.

I criticize Nintendo all of the time, as many have seen on this board.  I also defend them, and praise them, when appropriate to do so.  I'd say at least half of my Nintend-related posts have been criticism and not praise. 

The only times I tend to defend or praise Nintendo is when I'm lashing back at people for calling Nintendo out on something that Sony and Microsoft are also guilty of.  Typically, there's no other reason to.

It's very possible to go against the majority and not be ostracized. I, for one, just don't make a big deal of disagreeing with the majority. I may mention that I dislike a certain popular game and give a few reasons from time to time, but do I go post threads about my grievances? No, because I don't believe that I need other people to validate my positions.

You described the Sony fanbase in your first two sentences, not the Nintendo fanbase.

Actually the Nintendo fanbase is the most sceptical on consoles (which is a good thing and reminds me of PC fans of certain franchises or genres).

Looking at the Nintendo community here, you have to accept that:

1) Anything Nintendo does is wrong
2) No matter how good it is, it's never enough

This is very true. I mean the MS guys (all 10 of them) can be defensive of their console, but even they have a point where they lighten up. Nintendo fans on the other hand will go with Nintendo even if it is to the grave because there seems to be this notion that Nintendo is perfect.

Don't get me wrong, I consider myself a Nintendo fan, but I just don't understand that mindset. Nintendo are just as liable to make mistakes as any other company and just because they make my favourite franchise (Pokemon), I shouldn't let it slide. In fact I think as a fan it is very important that I am critical of them in the first place to hopefully make them better.

Take this wisdom from one of our Nintendo sages.  We are the only true gamers left!

I think what Spurge is trying to say, is certain Ninty fans claim other's are not "real" fans or haters because they disagree with something they said. Hell im in it right now, with some angry, misguided weirdo, who says I hate WIi U cause I dont think GTA5 will be released on it or do a mil, never mind my posting history suggests ive said mostly good things about it.

Fanboys from all three console makers would do this. If you don't praise their company, prepare the flame shield.

I really don't care if I criticize one company or another, because I am not a drone and actually enjoy games from a variety of systems and I couldn't care less about the console war.
