"Will the PS4 console is designed to be connected in a 'permanent'? What I ask is will need to be connected all the time? And if so, how will this affect plans for PSN?

PlayStation 4 is not a permanent connection system in that sense, but the experience is much richer if you are connected. You will have access to digital content and updates your games, along with a wide range of social functions: upload videos and screenshots, see your friends play and interact with them in various ways within the games. You can also go offline totally and play offline with the Xbox One. You just need to make it go online every 24hrs. His answer is vague, IMO.

Internet won't be required if they use the RFID tag patent. Yoshida said that they never thought of using an always online DRM system, not once mentioning used games at all. Using the RFID tag wouldn't require the PS4 to be always online and it would allow games to be resold if the system was connected on the internet. You could still play the system totally offline if you bought new games only.

Anyway, I guess we should all wait till Sony clarifies it's DRM policy officially on the PS4 site like MS did on the Xbox site. Their responses till now have been very vague, so don't be surprised if not everyone believes in what was said like you do.

Saying, "Oh yes, it's completely optional" is still vague to you? LOLS. As for the RFID tag... You mean... the thing that would lock out used games? The used games both gamestop and Sony confirmed will play on the Ps4? Also, the same patent sites reported that sony denied being for the Ps4? LOLS

The people with their heads in the sand would say, "HE JUST SAID IT WOULDN'T BE PERMANENT! NOT THAT IT DIDN'T REQUIRE A CONNECTION!"

I mean, it's obvious to both you and I that the reason he said anything about it being permanent is because thats how the question was worded. That isn't Sonys fault and they aren't dodging the question. I just don't think people will accept that quote. Sorry.

How can they leave it up to publishers if it isn't even possible in their system?

What am I missing?

I should have said, "No evidence to support that." What you are missing is Sony stating online registration... that would mean its on 3rd party servers.

Ok. So they can do it through the system but up to them. How can that happen without Sony's approval you know what I mean? Its allowable in their system for it to have a chance otherwise it wouldn't be possible at all.

I'll tell you now I don't understand a whole lot about it

And why do you think you can't rent or loan games out? Why do you think you can only sell to pre-approved retail stores? Anyway, i don't give a shit what MS is doing. this isn't a comparison thread. This is a "here is the evidence that goes against the speculation that stems from nothing" thread

Yes, it is vague enough. Used games would still be playable on another console if the RFID tag was cleared. How that would work? Well, I'll leave the answer to Sony if they ever implement this kind of DRM, but probably through some kind of online authentication or by using a similar used games system MS is trying to make with Gamestop.

About Sony denying the patent being for the PS4, well, nothing is stopping them from making the patent work with the Blu-ray drive/disc which is housed inside the PS4. Technically, the patent wouldn't be for the PS4 itself LOL

so one thing has sony them selves publicy come out and said that the patent is not for the ps4 cuz everything ive found is that a source said this.

They aren't doing it through the Ps4 hardware. They are doing it when you connect to the 3rd parties own servers. That has nothing to do with Sony and is the same way for the Ps3. That is the only possible conclusion we can come up with from what has been presented to us so far.

Based on this, I anticipate some PS4 games will have to be activated online. Thus deterring used games sales.

However, I don't anticipate PS4 DRM to be as bad as the Xbox One.
