Forums - Microsoft - why all the negative comments on the xbox one?

there is too much negative...it was a letdown for most gamers and I dont think games will solve this problem..the whole announcement felt like prison. this is going to stick with us as the first impression is the most important.

15 exclusive sound awesome but to good to be true probably most of them are kinect titles.

why? its rather simple. there focus on TV and shows was way more than their focus on games. which you know, is the main reason people buy these consoles.

Banana I expected better out of you O.o  We all knew the reveal was not about the games well before the conference lol

honestly, i was hyped for the reveal. i was posting like a nut case in the reveal thread. but the more i look back at the event the more i get dissapointed.

yes, i know this wasnt about the games, but the vision. but their vision inculdes a lot of TV and media features, that honestly, isnt that revolutionary. people been watching NFL for ages, X1 didnt do anything new. i can flip through games to live TV in a matter of seconds on my remote, its not a ground breaking feature. i understand this is about the vision, but why doesnt the vision focus more on games?  when it comes to a gamer they should nothing that was unexpected and to get excited about. forza, we all knew it was coming. the trailer looked great, but it was just a trailer. quantum break, if i actually knew one thing, just one thing about the game i would say it was interesting, but i literally dont know anything about the game. EA sports? i dont need to explain this. CoD? they showed literally nothing important. and that was it.

for a guy who uses his PS3 for his mutimedia and its more than enough for him, can you give me one reason i should want an X1 now? you know i dont own an 360 but i can honestly say that i am interested in it, there are tons of reasons to be intersted in a 360. but at the moment none for an X1.

my attitude towards the X1 changed a lot from during watching the show, and now. the way i am looking at the X1 now is like this "glorified TV remote that can play some games with tons of restrictions" thats my personal opinion on the matter honestly

People didn't like what they saw or heard after the conference. It's that simple.

Too much focus on TV.
Not enough focus on games.
3 Seconds of game play.
Not backwards compatible.
Extra fee for used games.
All games must be installed.
Console has to be online once every 24 hours.
Kinect 100% required.
Looks like a Betamax video player, its huge.
No information for markets outside of America.

These are some of the things people dont like.

The only thing I find weird about is half the people yelling about how they hate it claim they love Steam.

When basically MS is just turning their console into a more highly featured Steam box

Lol, JayWood mentioned something similar too. I also mentioned that there pc is always connected, so is mobile phone, tablets, Iphones/pads.... Not seeing how it's so hard to see past your fingers people.

No one wants a Steam box that cost $400+ dollars. I'm sure if Valve makes a physical Steam box - people will say the same thing.

If I have a PC that can Stream shows/sports, Have Steam/Origin/Uplay/whatever DRM, be able to do general stuff such as using the basic Microsoft programs such as Word/PowerPoint/etc for projects relating to school/work, have a decent browser like FireFox/Google Chrome, be able to get access to a wide variety of other programs for other uses (i.e. work related programs such as coding programs for programming, etc), movies, music, etc - why would I buy something that is far limited for $400+ and on the top of that have to pay a subscription fee on top of my internet fee?

If Sony does the same thing - I'll look at it the same.

Also the difference between Steam and the Xbox One is in the next couple of years providing Valve stays afloat and sure it will - Steam will be b/c with Windows/Mac/Linux while Xbox One games will probably not be b/c with Xbox Two system.

The “Steam Box” era begins with the Piston, a $1,000 PC-in-a-console

Why is X-One getting so much flack for not having backwards compatibility while PS4 isn't getting any at all?

It's Xbox. That's why.

On principle:
You don't own the games you buy, your access to them is a service provided by Microsoft on the condition of a daily verification. If you do not allow Microsoft to verify you should have access to that service it will be revoked until you can verify it by going online.

Practically:
If your account is hacked and becomes suspended you're entire library of games is either temorarily or permanently a wonderful paperweight.

It's early. Let's wait and see what the big green has to show at E3. This is reminding me of the PS3 hate that was brewing before the system launched, and look how it turned out - a great console. And people keep complaining at the hardware reveal (the keyword being hardware). Taking the whole picture into consideration, it was the best move to show what the system could do then in order to focus exclusively on software at E3. It is an ambitious box with a plethora of features, so it makes sense those aspects took up the majority of the show. If Microsoft showed too much yesterday then people would have complained about a 'weak' E3 showing. Let's wait till E3 at least. Some of these 'issues' may be addressed.
