Forums - Microsoft - why all the negative comments on the xbox one?

Why is X-One getting so much flack for not having backwards compatibility while PS4 isn't getting any at all?

I'm sorry, but I see ps4 getting flack for not being backwards compatible quite a bit.  Not so much here because this site is pretty Sony dominate, but it's out there on the interwebz.

why? its rather simple. there focus on TV and shows was way more than their focus on games. which you know, is the main reason people buy these consoles.

Like I said, there holding off until E3. I'm sure that's when they'll focus on all the games. This was just a smaller presentation to reveal the system.

and until then what they reveal is what people will talk about.

It's early. Let's wait and see what the big green has to show at E3. This is reminding me of the PS3 hate that was brewing before the system launched, and look how it turned out - a great console. And people keep complaining at the hardware reveal (the keyword being hardware). Taking the whole picture into consideration, it was the best move to show what the system could do then in order to focus exclusively on software at E3. It is an ambitious box with a plethora of features, so it makes sense those aspects took up the majority of the show. If Microsoft showed too much yesterday then people would have complained about a 'weak' E3 showing. Let's wait till E3 at least. Some of these 'issues' may be addressed.

I agree with this post %100 damned if they do and damned if they don't.

The PS4 did get flack for it. When it was announced, it was a negative people had against the console. Months ago.

The only thing I find weird about is half the people yelling about how they hate it claim they love Steam.

When basically MS is just turning their console into a more highly featured Steam box

No one wants a Steam box that cost $400+ dollars. I'm sure if Valve makes a physical Steam box - people will say the same thing.

If I have a PC that can Stream shows/sports, Have Steam/Origin/Uplay/whatever DRM, be able to do general stuff such as using the basic Microsoft programs such as Word/PowerPoint/etc for projects relating to school/work, have a decent browser like FireFox/Google Chrome, be able to get access to a wide variety of other programs for other uses (i.e. work related programs such as coding programs for programming, etc), movies, music, etc - why would I buy something that is far limited for $400+ and on the top of that have to pay a subscription fee on top of my internet fee?

If Sony does the same thing - I'll look at it the same.

Also the difference between Steam and the Xbox One is in the next couple of years providing Valve stays afloat and sure it will - Steam will be b/c with Windows/Mac/Linux while Xbox One games will probably not be b/c with Xbox Two system.

Honestly day one of taking orders on the Xbox One wait list was massive.

Apparently a LOT of people want a Steam box with Xbox exclusives and media features. I think people are going to be shocked how huge this is going to be in America. Bigger than the 360 probably.

On principle:
You don't own the games you buy, your access to them is a service provided by Microsoft on the condition of a daily verification. If you do not allow Microsoft to verify you should have access to that service it will be revoked until you can verify it by going online.

I have been ignoring pretty much evry post for the last two days but I want to point out that you can sell your games.  That has been confirmed.

Also do you consider PC gaming not owning your games?

I love the new Xbox, it's everything I was hoping MS would do.

Agreed, still, if Steam is headed in this direction also... Who's next?

The name killed my hopes at the start. Then the features came and they aren't features I care about (except kinect sorta).

I don't use commercial tv,
I don't use skype except with one person,
I don't do fantasy football,
I don't use windos phone,
the box looks fucking ugly,
It blocks used games,
It's not backwards compatible

I'm sure it's a fine system I'm just sad that there was no devotion to my tastes.. Sadness leads to anger...

I won't be shocked. The xbox brand is pretty huge in the America.
