Forums - Gaming - So... who decides to buy Atlus if Index (parent company) goes under?

I don't think Nintendo will actually.

They even stated that the Monolith Soft acquisition was an "exception" to the rule. (Not sure why they broke it but SUPER glad they did.)

I would prefer if Nintendo got them, however, Nintendo isn't known for buying studios that often... Acquisitions like Monolith and Retro is the exception, not the rule, so I wouldn't count on them to be that smart.

Sony? I'm really not that sure... They have financial troubles as it is, and I'm not sure Atlus would make system sellers for PS4...

EDIT: I see that I got ninja'd like 18 minutes before I made my post...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Out of the big 3, Microsoft is the most likely to buy them. That is if they still want to gain marketshare in Japan. That would be awesome, just because of the meltdowns.

And now those two are now 2 defining 1st party studios within Nintendo next to EAD.

So WHY isn't this a rule? These gambles can pay off handsomely.

I totally agree! Nintendo should really expand more, no question about that. I don't get why they don't do it more! To me it's a good thing.

Expand Nintendo! DO IIIIT!

I don't want Atlus to go first party. I also don't want the team that makes great RPGs to be destroyed. So I hope the company is selled as a whole and operation is kept intact. Sega or Namco would be great, because we could expect more games coming to the west (especially europe).

Not from Namco. If they are hesitant to release mainline Tales series, they sure as hell ain't bringing the Etrians over.

The Persona Series and maaaaybe SMT.

I would even say that Sega is far worse when it comes to bringing niche Japanese games to the West (all the Shining Games on the PSP, Hatsune Miku, Yakuza 5 /HD collection, Valkyria Chronicles 3 etc. )....

So I would go with Nintendo or Sony (preferebly Nintendo )

PS: Hi VGchartz :D

That's why. There wasn't really much of a point.

I actually think they should go with Sony. If the 2 Japanese console makers can get some good 1st party Japanese RPG support, maybe Square would make better games thanks to some competition.

Square are, let's face it, too poor. I would go for Sony or Nintendo, first party SMT would be like a dream come true ^^
