No, I wasn't talking about sales, but since you brought it up, I agree that an "Always Online" requirement would hurt its sales.

Hell, I was open to getting a 720, I had a 360 last gen, but I certainly won't be buying one if it requires a constant online connection.

i'm thinking that games will have check points every 2 hours, that will tell you please connect to the internet to continue, then you can go on with out being connected but if 720 was 2x more powerful then ps4 i would still buy it.

i'm thinking that games will have check points every 2 hours, that will tell you please connect to the internet to continue, then you can go on with out being connected but if 720 was 2x more powerful then ps4 i would still buy it.

Power's not such a big deal for me, I enjoyed the Wii the most of the 7th gen systems, but spending a sizeable chunk of my internet just to play offine, and being grounded whenever my net is down, that's a deal breaker for me.

It's possible, yes. Similarly, I've never seen so much hate for a console on the market as for the Wii U, or so much excitement and positivity for a console which we have yet to see as for the PS4, but as we know the Internet means very little to overall success.

New games are my reason for buying any new system. I couldn't play Bioshock on my PS2, so I got a 360. I couldn't play Mario Galaxy on my 360, so I got a Wii. I can't play Monolith Soft's X on my Wii or my 360, so I'll buy a Wii U.

The PS3's first 6 months or so saw some absolutely vicious hatred as I recall.

And while I can't be sure as I didn't have the internet then, the excitement and positivity surrounding the PS2 before launch was quite something in my experience; the magazine articles, the giddy joy of several PS1 owners I knew, promises of Toy-Story level graphics...

Not sure if its on the same level of the Wii U, though. And at least we had seen the console and knew the price for the PS2, we don't have that info currently.

I'm not sure either, but it was pretty intense. Message boards were flooded with "Sony is doomed," "PS3 has no games," "PS3 will drop off the market soon," "I'm selling my PS3 and getting a Wii/360." I'd say it was in the same ballpark.
