The Sega Saturn got a lot of bad press. The Playstation was a media darling and Sega jumped the gun and released it early. It got nothing but bad press before, during, and after launch.

But that was all after Sega had announced and shown and demoed the machine. This is the first time I've seen a console get such bad reaction with no action to react to. We know nothing concrete about the Nextbox and everyone is assuming the not only the worst, but they are assuming MS practically wants to shoot itself in the foot. Everything assumed is based on rumors based on out of context details leaked from sources that don't even know what it means.

I would say no because all of it is negative. The Wii had a lot of negative attention too but there was positives too. The ps3's negativity was pretty much all directed at the price.

The only thing negative about the Wii before it was actually fully revealed was the sudden name change from code-name "Revolution" which was shown off briefly at E3 the prior year, so I agree that the Next Box has had the most negative press of any major console before it was even officially announced, let alone revealed to the general public.

And just about every single negative talking point about it reads like a Sony fan's wet dream about M$ self-imploding, so I highly doubt most of, if not all of the negative rumors will turn out to be true.

It does seem like that doesn't it.

I'm not saying these rumors are true or false, but if they are false it will really make the people on the internet look like a bunch of jackasses, more than they do already. Either way I don't really care, but I hope they are false simply for this reason.

Honestly has there been a single rumor or "leak" about the new Xbox since the PS4 reveal thats cast it in a good light?

It really makes you wonder what exactly is going on. Are the rumors complete fabrication? Are we just not seeing the whole picture and these rumored things that seem bad turn out awesome? Has MS completely lost their minds? I don't even know what to think at this point

Not even close. Never was the internet flooded with "the Wii will suck" material like it is now for the 720.

Nintendo 64 got a considerable amount of bad press before the actual reveal, especially because of the rumors it would stick to cartridges, and the ending of their relationship with Squaresoft.
