Forums - Sales - The slow death of Majesco...maybe this time it's the HD twins fault?

Majesco basically lived and died on Nintendo hardware. Still, how can you have a product like Zumba and not make money?

Zumba is still the second best selling wii game (3rd party) and is in the top 100 software weekly (in the 30s) so that is an odd question.  Also lack of a new game (maybe Majesco sees no audience for the game on the Wii U) I think is the most daming thing.

definitely ps360's fault. majestico put zumba fitness on them and it only takes one game at an HD resolution to completely bankrupt a company. the wiiU's supports higher resolutions is basically nintendo saying "fuck you for your wii support, we're going to destroy the industry". thank god nintendo has enough sense to not support 1080p with their first party offerings..

Majseco always wanted to be a big player but never seemed to know what it was doing. It thought it could make money by filling niches. It even tried hardware (Genesis 3, Game Gear Core). It has always had financial issues. If you look at the stock price chart, it was under $1 a share for just about all of 2010. It just seemed that when it tried for the biggest splash, it failed (Aeon Flux). But it did also seem to put out a lot of tripe. And that causes gamer indigestion.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

as already mentioned, licensing fees and the fact that everything after the first Zumba Fitness didn't sell nearly as much as the first.

Also the series is 2m overtracked here (probably even more now since ioi never changed the numbers).

maybe too high licence fees. seems like everything they make is a licenced game, if movie or zumba licence lol

That could certainly be part of it.  THQ was heavy into licensed games, as well.  Wasn't it EA who recently said they were pulling away from that type of product?

Activision, I think.

You're right, it's Activision who said that recently.  EA said something like that but it was a few years ago.

Everyone knows making games on a Nintendo console is very cheap you only need 25k on the wii to make profit and 50k on the wii U they probably went bankrupt by buying to many Ps3 and xbox for their employees

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

That sucks. I liked Cooking Mama for a while.

When your most note worthy games are Zumba Fitness and Cooking Mama you deserve to fail. Of course they also brought the world Psychonauts, and Blood Rayne so I feel bad.

Here is what they should have done Zumba Fitness, like 4 Cooking Mama games, Blood Rayne Betrayal (Awesome game), Psychonauts port for PS3 as well as 360. A boy and his blob and that is about it. Instead they got 100 plus worthless titles and loss millions on the flop that was Udraw. Take that approach the company would still be strong today. Instead someone is going to get the Blood Rayne ip for cheap.

UDraw wasn't from Majesco and wasn't a flop ... on Wii.

And if you dislike Zumba Fitness and Cooking Mama you should appreciate, that obviously millions of people loved these titles.
