They didn't say anything about them making people pay for it either.   PS+ is actually worth it because they give you content worth well over the $50 I originally payed for, that is if you want the games you they give..   Just because there is talk of a Playstation World doesn't mean they are gonna make you pay for online.  All apps that I pay for already should be free for us to use.  And just basic online should be free.  It would be good for sony to have different options for consumers.

This question is for the PS fans because MS guys are already paying for online

I wouldn't completely switch to the Wii U because i could still play PS4 games offline. PS4s main online will be free going by what we already know

but I'm getting the Wii U eventually anyway

I don't play enough online to justify paying for it, so I would still get PS4, but I would never play online. If I had an itch to play a game online i'd just use my PC.

Uhhh if suscriptions stay like they are I'm likely going with the ps4 next gen, but if microsoft manages to add more value to their xbox live gold or make a platinum service for slightly more, I would be willing to go with them. I don't really mind paying to play online as long as I'm getting more features alongside it. If both consoles offer a good value in their suscription services I would probably go with whoever makes more new ips early on as I'm getting bored of most of the exclusive ips from this gen. Definitely plan on selling either console later on, when a cheap upgrade for my PC will let it vastly outperform them

The current xbox live gold model just isnt worth it. If they provided a service similar to playstation plus, but you need it to play online, I wouldn't mind. As for the Wii U. I've decided I'll wait till the price drops signifcantly. Even if that means waiting a while. The handful of exclusives I'm really hyped for will have to wait. It just isn't a compelling enough device for someone who already owns an hd console or pc unless your only interest in gaming is nintendo games.

I have decided not to get an X360 just because of them charging for online play. On the other hand, I've decided to get a Vita and a PS3 last November just because of PS+. I see huge value in PS+, just this month I saved approx. 12 Euro on the price of Assassin's Creed III: Liberation. The discounts themselves are worth more than the price of PS+ and I get so many awesome games on top of that, many of which I'd never buy.

So if Sony decides that you must have PS+ to play online - I won't care, as I love it. As long as the formula remains the same, I'm fine. If MS continues with the current Live formula - no way I'm going to buy their next console.

As for Wii U - it's not going to replace a console from Sony/MS or PC for me. I'm gonna get it once they drop the price to play some of the unique games.



Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

PS4 will have free online. There will be an improved pay program but Sony is not stupid there gunning for gamers and free Dom is every humans right to express themselves. This will be PS4's advantage there going for the gamer, creator this time.

Inetgrated into online play is going to be streaming of content, and spectator mode, which is a hog on resources.  Sony is upping the online play experience.  Because of this, I wouldn't go and make a blanket statement they won't charge for online play.  If the only other alternative is the Wii U without, and the PS4 dwarfs it specwise where people won't buy it instead, why wouldn't Sony charge for online play, particularly if it is clearly superior?  They could charge and even charge less than what Microsoft is.  Say it is the new PS+ for $50 a year, with LOTS of value, including the ability to stream and play almost immediately.  In short it is worth far more than PS+, which is trumpeted as well worth the money?
