It's never been their main focus though.
The core gamer is and always will be their bread and butter.
Can you honestly say that about Nintendo or Microsoft?

They have to cover their bases. They can't just ignore such a huge market. They can put less of a focus on it though.

I guess, as long as it's light-hearted I'm all for it. But it is a joke, so yeah a game following your yoga progress is a game. To refuse that makes it not a joke anymore, right? |
i think they mean that yoga, the activity, done in your living room followed by a console, ain't gaming, witch i agree... but i think we are looking into it much deeper than the person who did the ad (is this already confirmated as a sony ad?)...
lets agree to disagree...

No, I actually realized I agree with you. As long as it's light-hearted it's ok. But I do disagree that yoga can't be gamified. In reality, everything can be made a game all it takes is imagination and making something measurable and fun.

Just funny that now its like Move has been swept under the carpet and its now taboo to even speak its existence lol

i think my point of view of what gaming is, is a bit more narrowed than yours, IMO gaming is controlling a video displayed element and with it interact with others or/and accomplish a goal/objective. the other way around, where you do a activity and some electronic device follow your activity is hard to define as gaming. But yes, that activity can gain massively with the use of those devices to make it more fun, etc. and of course gaming company can reach more people trough those interactions and put their devices into more use and focus to a non gaming audience. if the image was about wii fit i would agree that is gaming, because you move your body to control the video element, but this one i kind of disagree.

If, for example, the program was sophisticated enough to track the postures and give a "success" sound and assign points to that, and assign a multiplier for the time the pose is held, and keep track of a sequence of postures without breaking the flow and assigning a combo multiplier.
Or if you're playing online and you win points for the closer you are to a yoga leader, well, it suddenly becomes a game. I know it's an extensive example and we aren't there yet, but by example I think it gets the point across.
Yes this is childish and arrogant yet "Im a mac" and "I'm a PC" commercials Apple and MS came out with are fine. Samsung Galaxy commercials talking about Iphones are fine and Coke Zero/Pepsi Max commercials are fine

Oh really? Does this look swept under the carpet to you?

it'd make more sense if sony didn't have ps-move.
whats next, Sony trolls Panasonic about their TV sales?
