i always laugh if its funny...
comedians make fun of everyone and everything, people find it funny until the joke hits them...
whats wrong about being comedians in ads?
people are over sensitive...
BTW... saw a stand up comedian being very funny and successful in a show when he made fun of lesbian, terrorists, drunks,etc..., and then he made fun of church, he was still funny, but no one laugh (at the audience)
isn't that hypocritical... we have to face it... we all are.

They aren't comedians though, they're selling a product, and Sony doesn't have the past to get a free pass. :) I'm afraid. After their 2nd beating it'll be ok.

and where is NOT OK to be a comedian while you sell your products?
if its smart and funny i will laugh at every ad i see of companies that i like or dislike.
they don't need no free pass or what ever, everyone has the freedom to make fun of other and don't need to be morally in a higher ground to do that. i don't think any comedian is better than me to have "permission" to make fun of me, he does just because he can, as i can also make fun of him or anyone for that matter.
every company has glass roof, every company can be a "victim" of a joke, so why just stay still hoping no one notice you? that is the opposite of what ads are for...

Awww, Sony Wony, wasn't someone with "ps3" in his name claiming Microsoft was the arrogant one? ;)

I think ads like that are more likely to appease existing fans than attract new ones. Speaking as someone who has gamed on Xbox and Nintendo systems while not using a PlayStation since the PS2, those adverts do absolutely nothing for me as someone interested in owning multiple formats.
What's more, they bother me because of the attitude it displays towards the wider audience in gaming that now exists and isn't going away. It's reminiscent of that "You play exercise games? You aren't a REAL gamer, gtfo!" attitude that has now spread to people vehemently opposed to mobile gaming, for example. It's indicative of a vocal minority that while passionate about gaming, also don't want to see gaming expand beyond topics, themes and mechanics that don't appeal to them. Wii Fit doesn't appeal to me, neither does Kinect, but I do think they, and the booming mobile scene, have an important place in this industry. As an enthusiastic gamer of twenty years, my personal belief is that we need to stick our heads above the parapets and welcome more diverse gaming experiences, rather than clinging to what we have and loudly shouting down anyone who attempts to diversify the industry. Diversifying the industry does not equal destroying the experiences we hold dear.
That being said, I highly doubt this is indicative of Sony's broader marketing push. If it is, as I believe, an advertising campaign set up to spread awareness among their core base and to excite the core base, then it's a good move. If, however, it's the beginning of a twelve or eighteen month push for PS4, then I think they're going to risk alienating the wider market, which is now bigger than ever before, which could prove to be a poor move in the long-term. It would be a sign of a company so willing to please a vocal minority that they'd alienate the wider market; just ask Nintendo how well that kind of strategy plays out.

bah, it's not really important. There's a fine line between poking fun as a comedian and bashing to make yourself look better, that's what I meant in my criticism of your comedian/PR analogy.
But honestly it's not something that really bothers me tremendously at this point. Once Sony had its first serving of humble pie, I have less worry this will get out of hand.
Reminds me more of these ads:
Than these:
Sort of gives a desperate vibe. Especially considering it's obviously lasering in on the "hardcore". Is Sony going to retreat upmarket?
Anyway, are people really offended by this stuf? really?
I LOVE ICELAND!
