If any of them is forced to stop releasing consoles it will be Sony, Nintendo will always bounce back

hey guys, just because som random dev said it does not mean it will actually happen. there is no mathematical equation you can puut together to figure out which console wont be around. we dont have to choose which one will be gone. it will all be okay. 

i see the biggest problems on the side of game-producers, as the game-budgets are going through the roof. I think the hardware should be OK, if the manufacturers are not too much into the loss-leading strategy.

Just because a guy that works for an iPhone games publisher says that consoles are doomed doesn't mean anything. What were you expecting to hear?

Sega did, however constantly make lots of games for the Dreamcast. They made a really valiant last stand. Just look at the list of games they released themselves.

well i've already talked about the cost of dev. rising, or not going down, but i don't see any of these other consoles being a threat. the big 3 are going to have to determine what's more important, and that may be the difference in quality, or what they seek to achieve when it comes to the games they create.

a bigger focus on digital distribution wouldn't hurt either.

"One of the big three will leave the industry", wasn't this exact same thing claimed for the 7th generation? Random developers and analysts always have some kind of shocking opinion, usually based on the obvious or basic trends.

Now, I agree with part of what he's saying; "next gen will fail", I think this is true in a relative sense. It will be less profitable, sell less software and less hardware, I think, which could possibly be deemed as a failure by a lot of people.

If anyone's going to leave, it'll be Sony. Nintendo obviously can't because it's all they have, and the Xbox brand is growing and can help make up for losses (or loss of sales) in other departments.

Nintendo is a game dedicated company Microsoft it is not. Who betyween teh two has more  need to be keeping the game industry healthy? Nintendo. Who has more first oparty game able to make a profit? Nintnedo!

I can agree to this.  Though I still find Sony leaving highly unlikey.
